Sun-worshipers: With the Atlantic coast on your doorstep, stretching some 200 kilometers from Soulac-sur-Mer at the top of the Gironde peninsular down to Biarritz near the Spanish border what better way to enjoy your holiday than either lazing on the golden uncrowded beaches or for the more active taking full advantage of the magnificent waves. Surf and have fun amongst the waves. Pin Sec, your nearest beach only 11 kms. From the house, have several cafe and bar facilities during the summer months. The beach is managed and for your safety lifeguards are on patrol daily in the summer.
For the more active: The Atlantic coast is a favourite for surfers; Tuition is available on most of the nearby beaches. The World Pro championships are held in the area. The wonderful freshwater lake at nearby Hourtin, the largest in France, offers numerous water-sports and tuition in sailing, fishing, windsurfing and probably more. A safe beach with marina and restaurants, cafes and bars surrounds the lake. The local area has an amazing network of cycle paths, through forests and around the lake; well sign posted Bikes can be hired. Also walking, horse riding and a child friendly Adventure Forest.
Food and Wine Lovers: The house is set in the centre of the famous Medoc wine region one of the richest areas to be placed for good food and wine lovers alike. There are plenty of daily markets offering fresh, delicious local produce and of course, the chateaux and vineyards for your wine. Although local caves and supermarkets provide a good source for extremely reasonably prices excellent wine. There are many good restaurants very near; a list of recommendations is available at the house. The area is famous for oysters and if you are a lover you will be spoilt. Drive to Lesparre and pick up the Route des chateaux a beautiful winding road through the Gironde vineyards passing some of the most impressive chateaux you will ever see.
Golf: there are three excellent golf courses within a reasonable distance of the house. Lacanau - 40 mins drive Margaux - 50 mins drive Golf du Medoc - 50 mins
