This gorgeous pair of countryside gites are located just a short drive from the picturesque tourist town of Huelgoat with the village of Plouye (traditional shops) just a couple of minutes away. The property enjoys a large garden with a level lawn and is 5 minutes walk from the beautiful river Ellez which some people take a paddle in or fish for trout. The Grand Longere at Gouled Treo Bihan features a magnificent vaulted ceiling to the lounge with a galleried landing above. There is a large 'farmhouse' style kitchen with a table that easily seats ten. The master bedroom (partly restricted headroom in places) has an en-suite toilet. Two further bedrooms and the lower lounge sleep a total of 8 adults in comfort. There is a bathroom (WC) and a shower room (WC) at either end of the house on the ground floor. Two wood-burning stoves heat the house and provide that all important cosy feel. The Petit longere is more modern in style with a fitted kitchen, double bedroom and a twin bedroom.

The Petit longere comprises two bedrooms, one double and one twin. The double bedroom has a gorgeous carved wooden bed. Downstairs is a comfortable lounge with a TV for playing DVD's (some supplied).There is a sofa-bed so the house can sleep up to six in comfort. The kitchen modern fitted is well equipped. A very spacious and luxurious shower room downstairs completes the property. The property can be booked with the Grand Longere to sleep up to 14 people. Outside is ample space in the gardens for ball-games or just relaxing.

The nearest village is a two minute drive away- Plouye- with its characteristic church spire visible for miles around. Beautiful Huelgoat with its lake and boulder strewn forests is a ten minute drive. Other towns nearby include Medieval Morlaix (with its very atmospheric Saturday morning market) and Carhaix. A variety of excellent beaches are available about 45 minutes to an hour away in three directions! If you want the facilities of cities then Brest and Quimper are approximately an hour distant.

Cottage in Huelgoat

We did not stay at the Longere, Steve Williams has another property right in the middle of Huelgoat. It is a small cottage with a very large bedroom upstairs Dining/Living room with double sofa bed and Bathroom/Toilet downstairs. There is a super little garden and off-road parking. Because there was only my wife and I Steve phoned me to suggest we stayed there instead of the Longere. We are so pleased we did it was perfect. We can usually find something to mark down a little but this is a definite 10/10
Huelgoat is quite magical and there is an unbelievable walk (anything from half a mile to upwards of ten) which starts just 200yards from the cottage. The town centre is also only 200yards from the front door opposite a wonderful lake and has all you need there is even a supermarket half a mile away. The cottage is on a no through road right next to the main road so it is always peaceful and quiet.
If you are looking for a base to explore Western Brittany then this is the place for you, we will definitely be going back to the cottage in the near future.
