Weather in Obidos, Portugal:
The Costa de Prata or Silver Coast bathes in beautiful silver sunshine from May until late October, with average temperatures of over 20 degrees C. Winters are very mild, staying above 10 degrees C most of the time. The Obidos area provides an ideal base for exploring this beautiful and unspoilt part of Portugal. The area boasts a number of excellent restaurants as well as speciality shops.
Activities in the Area:
For people who want a more active holiday there are many things to do. For Golf enthusiasts Praia de'l Rey in Obidos, Rio Major & ,in the spring, Bom Successo provide the Silver coast with three eighteen hole golf courses all nearby.
For people enjoying water sports, the Silver Coast or Costa de Prata has many good surfing beaches, the sailing club at Obidos lagoon offers a wide variety of activities such as, windsurfing, water skiing, kite surfing, catamarans and canoes. Peniche has scuba diving and surfing schools.
For children there is the waterpark in Nazare, travel to Lisbon and explore state-of-the-art Lisbon Oceanarium, largest aquarium in Europe, or for adults & children horse riding and walking on the Silver coast.
Alternatively if you prefer a more relaxing holiday you can tour the many vineyards near Obidos or just relax on the terrace or by the pool during the day & wine & dine in the evening in one of the many wonderful Portuguese restaurants around the Silver coast.
Golfing in the Silver Coast:
For Golf enthusiasts there are many golf courses on the Silver coast. The Praia D'el Rey Golf (19km/10.5 miles) is rated 2nd best in Europe. Peniche golf course is approx 30km/17 miles & Bom Successo 19km/10.5 miles. Praia de'l Rey is an 18 holes. Par 72. 7069 yards, Links / Woodland course at in Obidos created by Cabell B. Robinson. In the spring of 2008 a Par 72 6,470 m 18 hole championship golf course, designed by Donald Steel, opened at Bom Successo in Obidos. Slightly further away is the 18 holes. Par 72. 7231 yards Golden Eagle designed by Rocky Roquemore at Quinta do Brinçal , Rio Major & then towards torres Vedras is the The 18 holes. Par 72. 6574 yards, Campo Real course, also designed by Donald Steel, at Figueiredo and the two 9-hole courses, the 36 Par links Atlantico, at Peniche and the 34 Par Vimeiro, designed by Frank Pennink, at Torres Vedras.
