Sliema and the coastline up to neighbouring St Julian's constitutes Malta's main coastal resort. It is a centre for shopping, restaurants and caf'e life. Sliema is also a major commercial and residential area and houses several of Malta's most recent hotels. The Sliema promontory offers on one side stunning views across to Valletta and on the other, open sea views. The promenade, which runs for several kilometres from Gzira just south of Sliema to St Julian's, is ideal for walker and joggers. There are plenty of seats along the promenade and on summer evenings the seafront becomes a sociable meeting place for locals. The coastline has two tower fortifications: a De Redin watch tower built in the 17th century; the other was built by the British in neo-gothic style in the 1880s.

Great apartment in a great location

We enjoyed our stay in Malta. The apartment was great - very spacious, clean, comfortable, well equipped and in an excellent location. It was only a minute's walk to the sea and the bus stop, where the local buses will take you to all parts of the island. The owner, Marieneve, was very helpful. We would certainly stay there again.

The apartment is large, with a washer/dryer and two bathrooms, and is in a perfect location. The kitchen is adequately equipped and while the windows don't open onto any view, the apartment is so close to the ocean and the promenade, that you can simply go outside. I would recommend taking a taxi to/from the apartment as the owner's father (who had to pick us up on order to give us a key for our late night arrival) charged much more than a taxi would. Owner is quite nice and available for questions.
Owner's Response: Apartment has side seaviews from the 2 balconies, and you reach the beach in 2minutes by walk. Please note when keys must be handed during late hours (1am-5am) a small extra charge is given to the person responsible to meet you up.

Great Apartment

Great apartment, spacious, clean, well maintained and central for getting to all parts of Malta. The local bus service is fantastic and so cheap, look at passes for 1 - 5 days so you can hop on and off. The local supermarket has everything you need and only 5 minutes walk, and plenty of really good restaurants only minutes away if you don't fancy cooking. Try the local Maltese one just along from the apartment, especially the local specialities (rabbit/mussels/fish). The owner Marieneve could not have been more helpful, especially offering the pickup service from/to the airport. It is one place I would return to.
