La Chintana is situated in such an idyllic and most private location amidst wonderfully kept grounds with views of the surrounding and stunningly beautiful hilly and rocky countryside with sea view from the pool area. Converted from old farm buildings, the property is set up as 3 self-contained units of different sizes which can be rented most comfortably as a whole for up to to 13 people, or as individual units for smaller groups. The units are self-contained with each of them offering a good degree of privacy featuring comfortable bedrooms, refurbished bathrooms and well equipped rustic kitchens open plan to spacious living and dining areas. The well kept grounds include lawned areas, a BBQ and seating for al fresco dining. La Chintana is found on the beautiful north west coast close to Capo Mannu between Pozzo San Nicola and Palmadula and just a short drive to a choice of beaches and activities, a 20/30 minute drive from Alghero Airport and 20 minutes from the town of Stintino .

La Chintana 'B is a self-contained mid- terraced stone property which offers flexible accomodation for a maximum of 7 people. There are 3 bedrooms in total, one of which would be ideal for in-laws, Grand parents or such like, for extra privacy it can be closed of from the rest of the apartment to include the bathroom if desired and it is self-contained with own fridge facility. There are two bathrooms in total which have been recently refurbished and a comfortable living, dining and kitchen area with open fire and featuring high, beamed ceilings and stone floors .

La Chintana benefits from a lovely position set amidst hills and rocks with a sea view from the pool area and is just a 10 minute drive to a choice of beaches. The location is a very pretty area just 6km from Palmadula on the beautiful North West coast approximately half way between Alghero and Stintino, and the house is in a very quiet and peaceful location and most ideal for anyone wanting wanting a quiet rural holiday with the benefit of all amenities and a choice of larger towns within close vicinity. The nearest village is Pozzo San Nicola with a small selection of shops for everyday and further North is the town of Stintino, a small fishing village with a good choice of cafes & restaurants, shops, super market and a weekly open market. Further on to the very tip is Capo Falcone, which over looks the Island of Asinara National Park. La Chintana makes your journey easy whether arriving by Plane (30 minutes from the Airport) or by ferry (30 minutes from the port of Porto Torres ).

  • La Chintana can be let to larger groups by combining all or any of the 3 units subject to availability.

    Although the rates are advertised in £ Sterling, the deposit of 30% is required to be sent in Euros by bank transfer to Sardinia and the balance of 70 % is paid on arrival
  • A 350 Euro security deposit is paid on arrival and returned at the end of your stay subject to no major damages.
  • The pool is cleaned daily (early morning)
    Bed linen and bathroom towels are provided.
    ** Please note guests should bring their own Pool & Beach towels
    An end of stay clean is included in the price.
    For stays of more than one week the villa is cleaned weekly.

Notes: A challenging MINI-GOLF COURSE is being created within the grounds for 2009. Shared facilities include a fabnulous swimming pool which measures 11 x 5 metres and is 1.10 metres shallow, deepening to 2.10 metres. There are sun loungers, a BBQ and extensive grounds with various alfresco seating areas. La Chintana B can accommodate a maximum of 7 people yet can be let together with one other or all three of the properties available at La Chintana to suit requirements to a maximum of 13 people. Other information : There is a file kept at each of the cottages which includes local information, things to do and places to visit. On arrival the owners also provide a welcome hamper of local goodies for your enjoyment. The nearest Agrituismo restaurant is just 400 metres and is a pleasant walk along the quiet lanes nearby.

Activities: There are 4 bicycles available for use for exploring the local countryside. Other sporting activities can be found in either Stintino or Alghero such as horse riding, go-karting and a variety of water sports including deep sea diving. There are a choice of boat trips and excursions from Stintino and a submarine excursion available from Alghero.

Paradise for 10 days

Staying at La Chintana felt like being in paradise. We had the beautiful garden en pool to ourselves which made it even more private. The garden is lovely, for a walk in the morning, and for playing (mini) golf. The cottage has comfortable bed rooms and bath rooms. Together with the shaded terrace we had plenty of living space.

The surrounding is beautiful too. You can make nice walks in the surrounding hills on several coastal paths.

The only traffic we experienced was from our neighbours (100 sheep).

The accomodation is very well kept by the owners, who are very helpful (practise your Italian though!).

Sardinian Bliss

La Chintana has three letting units A, B & C, all of which are in a row, we stayed in the largest ,“B” the middle unit, in September 2008. La Chintana B is spacious accommodation with three bedrooms and two bathrooms and could sleep up to 7 people if required. It has a quaint rustic kitchen and living area but most of our time (party of 4) was spent using the patio area at the rear of the accommodation which is specific to this particular unit. We spent many a happy hour eating, drinking etc. using this facility that offered welcome relief from the glorious sunshine.
There are several really special things about a holiday at La Chintana. In the first instance the friendly owners meet you at the airport and you can follow them in your car to the accommodation. This I would suggest is a must and a really good service as the accommodation is in a remote location and did not show up on my Sat Nav (Tom Tom) or the maps we had with us at the time. Though the owner’s English agent did send us directions I think most people on their first visit may have difficulty finding the accommodation without help, especially at night.
The stunning location with panoramic views of the sea and hills around is absolutely wonderful and when you are laid out at the side of the delightful pool it is just bliss. In our 10 day stay we hardly heard anything mechanical other than the pool pump gently gurgling and the occasional use of the sprinklers coming on watering the garden. There is an abundance of wild life and will have you diving for your binoculars, so remember to pack them.
This is a really good place to come to, to get away from it all and relax but if you want to, there are many places of interest within 30 minutes drive away. The nearest restaurant Finagliosu (a Agriturismo) is couple minutes drive away (and walkable) it cost 26 Euros for a 6 course set meal with wine and all sorts of other bits and bobs and was excellent. We went twice and the meal was practically identical the second time and that was a wee bit of a disappointment.
Just something to be aware of: if you are arriving at Alghero from the UK on an evening flight, you may want to think ahead about organising some basic provisions to tide you overnight, as there was little to be had when we arrived at the accommodation. It might be a good idea to have a word with the owners/agent in the UK to see if this can be pre-arranged locally. Otherwise, everything else was superb.

The description was very accurate even though the nearest restaurant was a bit further away than the 200m stated. It is well worth a visit though if you want fully authentic and fresh Italian food at a very reasonable price.
The property, including the pool, was spotlessly clean, well maintained and in excellent order, the owners were never far away and always very friendly and helpful.
I would recommend this property to a friend or anyone looking for a quite rural and away from the crowd break. The packed beaches are only half an hour away and the fantastic coastal town of Alghero well worth a visit if you want to remind yourself of why you picked a more remote loction. You will need a car and a sat nav was very useful
