Tobago is the pearl of the Caribbean islands, lying some 10km off the Venezuelan coast. In 1888 it was linked to Trinidad in a single government administration. The two islands lie only 33km apart. Trinidad has an area of 4 828km² while Tobago covers a mere 300km² . It has a central spine of rolling hills and highlands of lush rain forest. The lowlands are covered with coral soil, shrubs and cultivated fruits and vegetables. Tobago is tranquil, relatively undiscovered and unspoiled by tourists. It has a rich variety of birds, flowers and marine life. There are two internationally recognized, attractive golf courses. The island has justifiably been named Robinson Crusoe Island. Its beauty is echoed by its friendly people, beautiful beaches and coral reefs. The location of V d L facilitates walking distance to the Crown Point area which houses two of Tobago’s finest beaches; Pigeon Point and Store Bay. 10 wunderful days!

BOER Onsala Sweden
Review Submitted: May 30, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
It started already before with a lot of useful information from the owner Mervyn over phone or via e-mails. He also called during our stay to check that we had everything we needed. At arrival Mervyn had arranged a pick up, which took us to the villa, situated less than 10 minutes drive from the airport. At our arrival the housekeeper Velma and the gardener Clive showed us around and gave useful information about facilities in the Villa and in the neighborhood. Velma had prepared a delicious dinner for us (we just paid 25US$ for this plus the costs for the raw ingredients)
The Villa had three bedrooms. All bedrooms had air condition, the rest of the house was not air-conditioned but there was really no need for that because, when being in the villa, we spent most of the time around the pool, where we had our breakfasts every morning and also some dinners and just enjoyed the sun. The kitchen was well equipped with everything one could need for cooking. At the pool side there was also a barbecue. Velma looked after the Villa and cleaned the villa almost every day and change towels a couple of times, but we seldom saw her. The gardener repaired three bicycles, which were free to use during our stay.
Already at the airport at our arrival several tour guides “attacked” us and offered different tours around the island but we rented our own car and made our own trip around the island, which was much cheaper. It is convenient to have a car but not necessary. Taxi is rather cheap and is recommended for example for a visit to Sunday School in Buccoo. There is no need for a tour guide for this visit.
The closest center with a lot of restaurants is within walking distance, 15-20 minutes. Our favorite restaurant was “Latitude Eleven” which we visited several times. We visited several beaches around the island but prefer Pigeon Point. Mt Irwine Bay and Arnos Vale Bay are also recommended if more privacy is wanted. Arnos Vale Bay is good for snorkeling right from the beach. At Arnos Vale Bay there is also a restaurant famous for it’s afternoon tea with bird watching, but you will be charged for the afternoon tea either you have it or not during the bird watching.
For golfers we recommend Mt Irvine Golf. It takes about 20 minutes and costs 60 Tobago$ to go there with a taxi. Start at 06.30 and you have the entire golf course for yourself and it is not too warm.
We all would like to come back and we really recommend this Villa for everyone- It is a paradise!

wonderful white villa

I stayed for a week in Villa de Lena and had a fantastic time. The property has a huge garden filled with flowers and fruit trees and its own pool. Its located within walking distance from the little area center and one of the many beaches. The villa itself is very well taken care of with its own housekeeper who clean it every day. Its easy to rent a car and drive around the island, exploring rainforest, small towns and isolated beaches. I can highly recommend the villa for anyone who wants to enjoy the caribbean sun and have a fantastic holiday :-)

Hi,
we have been vacationing in the carribean for 25 yrs. We mix land with bareboating. This villa was our favorite land spot yet.Everything was clean, and bug free. Which is difficult in the tropics. The yard was georgous. Mervyn and his helpers are great. Would highly reccommend it.

"Money well spent"

Review Submitted: May 19, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
Villa de Lena is “RIDICIOULS”, that is the price you pay and the standard of quality you get from the moment you walk into the Villa, to the manicured grounds which when in bloom is quite the visual thou quite scented throughout, the impeccable structure (i.e. spaciousness, luxury gazebo, modern in design, modern kitchen/appliances, great stereo system, even little spaces to just escape it all whilst within the Villa, views, vantage points (sundeck over the car port, etc.) needless to say cleanliness of the interior which is expertly maintained by the lovely housekeeper (not sure if she’d want me to mention her name but “YOU’RE THE BEST”/cook (and boy can she). Villa de Lena conveniently located will within everything you’ll need for your stay, yet a good night sleep is always a definite (good mattresses trust me “I’m very picky”) as it’s tucked away location assures this. Villa de Lena is what a “Holiday” is made of my, only negative memory of “Villa de Lena” was my departure.

Villa de Lena

Review Submitted: May 18, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2007
This villa was fantastic. We loved staying there and having the entire place to ourselves. The location was not only close to the airport, but also to several of the more popular beaches. We especially like having a pool which we didn't have to share with others.

We also stayed in one night and had a home-cooled meal from Velma and it was one of the best meals we had all week.

I would recommend this to anyone who would prefer a private place of their own at a very reasonable rate.
