Casa Onrust means 'House of Peace' in Afrikaans. The setting and location live up to the name. Vale Telheiro was recently described as the 'Tuscany' of Portugal. The Villa has an attractive shaded terrace and the pool is surrounded by lawns and palm trees and seating areas. The owner lives in the main house with her friendly labradors Paula and Oscar who adore children. Uschi goes out of her way to ensure that a holiday at Onrust will be a tranquil experience. She's an artist and her flair is reflected throughout the whole place. Beautiful paintings adorn the walls and wonderful fabrics are used for curtains and soft furnishings. If you want to pamper yourself while on holiday, there is a beauty treatment/therapy room tucked away in the garden and the owner can provide aromatherapy, colour consulting and hairdressing. Alternatively you can just relax by the lovely pool and walk through surrounding countryside. Enjoy the calming atmosphere of this most delightful place.

  • The property will sleep up to 6 persons. Prices quoted are for two persons. Please contact the owner for prices for 3-4 and 5-6 persons. Lets between December 2008 - March 2009 by negotiation. A 30% deposit by bank transfer in euros is required on booking. The full balance being payable 8 weeks before arrival. For bookings within 4 weeks, payment is due in full. A security deposit of 200 euros is required with the final payment which will be returned after inspection, provided no damage has occurred.

  • There are two bedrooms in the main house and one in the upstairs studio. Each of the bedrooms is delightfully furnished with beautiful paintings and wonderful fabrics are used for soft furnishings and curtains. Modern fitted kitchen with dining area. Integrated oven and hob, toaster, fridge/freezer, washing machine, microwave, coffee machine, electric mixer, fully equipped with crockery and cutlery, electric kettle, towels etc. Ironing board/iron, children's toys, children's seats oscillating fans. Upstairs studio has a Sky Satellite TV, fantastic terrace with views across the mountains to the rear and the sea to the front. It also benefits from a small kitchen/diner with hob unit and fridge/freezer, toaster, kettle, crockery and cutlery. plus a shower and toilett .Towels and linen are changed once a week. The property is cleaned once a week. The main apartment is situated on ground level suitable for wheelchair access. The studio is accessible by staircase outside the main house.

Within 15 minutes drive, you will find some of the best golf courses in the world: Vilamoura, Pinhal, Quinta do Lago, Vale da Lobo. The area is ideal for walking and sightseeing. Beaches are within 20 minutes by car. Horse Riding is available at Vale do Lobo. There are two waterparks within easy reach. Parking is available within the grounds. The pool area is surrounded by trees and shrubs. Sun loungers and umbrellas are provided and there is an outdoor shower.

Our daughter learnt to swim in Rudi's lovely pool

This is a lovely place.

We've been twice, the first time in Aug 2006 the second Aug 2008 and we loved both visits.

The property itself is well described here, it's a two storey house with everything that we wanted including a massive sun terrace on the top floor, an outside dining area and barbecue and, of course the swimming pool. The house is in a walled garden with remote controlled electronic gates. It's in the hills just above the small town of Loule. Loule itself is unspoilt, not touristy, and has good shops and restaurants.

Well, that's the functional description. Lets move on to character. The owners- Uschi & Rudi and their 2 dogs and 2 cats live in the house next door and they are everything you could hope for or want in owners/neighbours. They leave you own your own when that is what you want, they are charming and generous company when you want that. And the place is beautifully maintained. Our (then) 4 year old learnt to swim in the pool that Rudi maintains. And I've never seen a better maintained pool. It's set in beautiful gardens with fig trees, they left dishes of figs out for us, they let our daughter use the granchildrens' toys, they could not be warmer. The dogs and cats are an added bonus. We like cats but we've never owned a dog but the dogs are delightful gentle family pets. If I had a dog I would like it to be it one like theirs.

We went to Casa Onrust in June 2007 and were so delighted with the property (and the owners) that we are excited to have booked again and are due back in a few days for the October half term. This is one property that truly has more going for it than the advert boats!

We found a big and beatyful house with a lovely garden and a lovely view. The equipment in the house and around the pool were much more than we expected. We really liked the two appartements, because we were a big famely in age between 8 months and 56 years.
You can´t find better customer service, kindness, willing to help and even newly baked cake.
We just want to say, thank you Ushi and Rudi for two wonderful weeks. We will be back!

We have travelled extensively all over Europe looking for the "perfect get away in the sun". For this type of holiday just to chill out and relax, we seem to have struck gold at
Casa Onrust. Obviously all down to personal preference, and taste, but this place ticked all our boxes.
Self catering at its best, a million miles away from the hustle and bustle of the coastal resorts, but on the door step of the lovely small town of Loule.
We have recommended "The house of peace" to friends and family, and we will certainly be back ourselves.
As for the owners of the property Uschi & Rudie, (really nice people) they have thought pretty much of every thing, and keep the place in first class order. Finally but by no means last, the two dogs and a cat, that live here with the owners, are so well looked after, and so well behaved, they add to the holiday, as my wife Sharon wanted to bring all three of them, back home with her.
