Booked at very short notice and Elizabeth was fantastic in making sure everything was sorted.
We have been to Norfolk on numerous occasions before but have tended to visit the Broads and the Yarmouth area mainly so this was a chance to see a different part of the county.
Arrived at Helhoughton early so went for a superb lunch at the Sculthorpe Mill, beautiful food and setting.
The cottage is in Helhoughton, a small village, no shops so a car is essential, set in lovely countyside and a great base for walks.
Downstairs is like a tardis. The cottage looks very small from the outside but when you enter it surprised us the way it just seemed to carry on! The living room is very comfortable and well proportioned. There's a TV, Video and DVD and some films and books for use. There is a farmhouse style dining room off of the living room and accessed via a stable door. The dining room leads to the kitchen which includes a cooker, washing machine and dishwasher as well as a large larder. The is a nice bathroom with a shower over the bath and a separate WC.
Upstairs is accessed via stairs at the end of the living room. The main bedroom was very comfortable and a good side. The 2nd bedroom has 2 sets of bunk beds which may be a problem to families with different sex children but our 3 boys thought it was a great adventure. The 2nd bedroom also has good storage.
Everything within the cottage was very clean and, with the possible exception of a microwave, had all that we could have wanted.
Out the door and down and down a quite path is the garden which is a superb size and has a trampoline. It has a country garden feel. There are also table & chairs which can be used. The boys had a great time there!
We had trips during our 5 night stay to Wells, Fakenham & Swaffham. We also hired a pool a couple of times which is well worth it for £15 per hour.
Helhoughton is great to walk in, has a nice playground for children and is in walking distance of some lovely villages such as the Raynhams, There were also many other lovely walks and villaghes just a short drive away.
We had a fantastic time and the accommodation was all part of what made it a great break. The one problem, we didn't have long enough! We definitely want to visit the area again to see the places we saw this time again but also all the places we didn't get the chance to see.
And for our return visit we will DEFINITLY be contacting Elizabeth again to see if we can stay in her wonderful cottage.
