Elegant, yet effortlessly welcoming, Artagnan is a classic stone 'Maison de Maitre'. Once the ' home of the Master of the village', Artagnan is now home to countless happy guests as they enjoy the perfect family holiday in Gascony. This large, yet perfectly proportioned house has been lovingly restored by a friendly British couple with children of their own. Their attention to detail is evident throughout, with little touches everywhere to constantly suprise and delight. The interior has been tastefully decorated to retain many beautiful original features. There are panoramic views of sun-kissed countryside and the snow-capped Pyrenees to the south. Artagnan is ideally situated for exploring the rich heritage of Auch, Lourdes, Pau, Toulouse & the magical Pyrenees. Also for sampling some of the delicious local specialties such as duck, garlic, Armagnac and local wines. Madiran wines,especially, have been highly recommended by Professor Roger Corder in his new book ' The Wine Diet.'

Nestling in peaceful countryside on the outskirts of a small hamlet, this lovely holiday home sits in grounds of over two acres including a large, flat 'sandy' courtyard with wooden garden table and chairs, ideal for a lazy morning breakfast, a refreshing glass of wine, a relaxed barbecue or just a place to sit, chill out and drink in the view. There is an enclosed fenced swimming pool (heated & alarmed) with sunbathing patio and covered shaded terrace with loungers, a fenced pond with gorgeous water lilies, goldfish, dazzling dragonflies and sunbathing frogs! To the front there is also a large, flat expanse of grassed lawn with football posts, swings/ladder/rope, a slide and sandpit ideal for the children to play and run free in while the adults unwind and relax as the children entertain themselves. An old oak tree provides shade and something to climb. The owners live in the detached converted barn and have a separate entrance and parking area. They do not have access to the pool.

All prices include bed linen, bath towels, hand towels, tea towels, bath mats, soap, cleaning products, local phone calls, electricity, gas, water, swimming pool/garden maintenance and basic cleaning on departure.
A generous welcome pack is provided, with our compliments, which includes fresh bread, a selection of cheeses, fresh milk, a local tart, fresh eggs (courtesy of our own happy hens), butter, jam, a selection of fresh fruit, a pack of mini cereals, fresh orange juice, a bottle of still and sparkling water, cold beers, a bottle of red and a bottle of white wine, tea, sugar and fresh coffee. We are more than happy to shop for any additional items you may require prior to your arrival giving you a stress free start to your holiday. We will need 48 hours notice for this free service and you only pay for your additional goods. There is a local French lady (highly recommended) who can cook and deliver in advance or during your stay, delicious dishes ranging from lasagne and paella to regional gastronomic. Babysitting and housekeeper/cleaner are also available on request.

We are on hand, in a discreet and friendly way (see guest book entries below) to make sure that all goes smoothly, to answer any questions, call out a doctor, book a massage, recommend a restaurant, help plan day trips/picnics and just to make sure you have a great holiday which is relaxed and stress free. All your beds will be made up so when you arrive all you have to do is make yourself at home.

| Notes: | See our website, visitartagnan, for full details. The heated swimming pool (8m x 3.5m depth 1.40) has roman steps and is fenced off as well as alarmed. Please bring your own pool towels. Table tennis, boules, badminton/volley ball, basketball, football lawn and goal posts, pond dipping, star gazing, bike riding, bird watching, sandcastle building, swing-balling, grasshopper catching, lizard chasing, snoozing in a hammock by the pool, sunbathing, herb picking, feeding the chickens etc. are all available at Artagnan. Some of the activities and events available near by are: horse riding, tennis, water park, tree top adventure park, massage and golf. Further afield quad biking/paintballing, and natural spas. We have some of the cleanest air in Europe and at the end of the day you will sleep like a baby! |

Golf courses (18 holes)
Pau-Billere golf course was built along the banks of the River Gave by the British Army in 1856 and is the oldest golf club in continental Europe. It is sometimes referred to the St.Andrews of Europe ! As one of the most magnificent courses in France this historic course next to the elegant city of Pau is well worth a visit. @ Chateau de Pallane (23 kms) 18 holes set in the rolling grounds of this magnificent chateau on the way to Marciac@ Bagneres-de-Bigorre (49kms) sits at the foot of the mountains with its superb design and quick greens it has a great reputation and wonderful views of the Pyrenees.@ Lannemezan (34kms) the course is deceptively tight and you will need to play straight along its tree-lined fairways.Easy walking on this fairly flat course amongst its 4,500 trees with spectacular views of the Pyrenees. @ Auch (40 kms) 18 holes laid out over 5 small valleys just outside the splendid capital of the Gers. There are great views over the course from the terraced restaurant.
