The Cottage is a one bedroom self contained flat attached to the house. It consists of a double en-suite bedroom, kitchen and dining/living room. The kitchen is fitted with granite work tops, a cooker, fridge and water filter. It also has an outside seating 'balcao' area. The Cottage is an ideal place for two people.
History & Background: Vila Alina is owned by Alirio and Noemia Nazareth. This beautiful ancestral home was built in 1926 by Alirio’s father, Antonio Jasso who named it after his wife Alina.
Back then, it was built on the deserted Calangute beach in North Goa and today it feels like an oasis of tranquillity in the midst of the enjoyable hustle and bustle of the surrounding area.
For the last twenty years, the owners regularly spent three months a year at Villa Alina escaping the cold London winter. During this time they worked hard to maintain the house as a most welcoming holiday home for their four children and nine grand children who have all grown to love everything about Goa.
The children took responsibility for restoring this beautiful Portuguese influenced villa to its former glory but with the addition of some modern comforts.
With an excellent architect and builder who specialise in high quality, sympathetic renovations, work began on the house in March 2006 and was completed a year later.
Today: We have renovated our furniture and sourced antique beds, tables and chairs. There are fully equipped hand built kitchens with Jaipur granite work tops. All rooms have ceiling fans and bedrooms have now been upgraded with air conditioning which is essential in the late season (April onwards).
The 12m x 6m infinity swimming pool is a huge hit with all our family and guests. Soak up the sun as you relax on the sunbeds, handmade from recycled antique teakwood furniture from the house.
We plan to enjoy this wonderful, comfortable ancestral home for ourselves but also to rent it out to people who enjoy staying in luxury, traditional Goan homes instead of impersonal five star hotels.
Most people who visit Goa for the first time always return and we believe that Vila Alina will have that same memorable effect on all our guests.
We know you will enjoy and appreciate Vila Alina as much as we do.
