Spacious 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment (plus 3rd separate toilet) in one of the largest linked ski areas in the Alps available for rental on weekend or weekly basis. Recently refurbished to a high specification & including all the comforts of home, the apartment has wonderful views of the Morillon mountains, with a large triple aspect lounge & well appointed open plan kitchen/dinner. The apartment is 2 mins on the ski bus (or 10 mins walk) from the main ski lift & is fantastic for both skiers and non-skiers alike. As well as the more strenuous activities (skiing, biking, white water rafting etc), there are lovely walks starting 20m from the apartment or alternatively you can relax with DVDs, Cd's/stereo, books or games. The apartment is part of a converted farmhouse built in 1840 and is warm & inviting with 80cm thick walls and wooden floors. There is also a private garden (150m2) with West facing views of the mountains, and private parking.

Morillon village is part of The Grand Massif ski system (inc Flaine, Samoens, Les Carroz) which is great for all abilities with 265km of piste. With its rustic Savoyard mountain restaurants, the charm of the village is perfect for summer and winter holidays alike. The apartment is a 10 min walk from the Morillon telecabin, alternatively, the ski-bus stop is 50m from the front door (2 mins to the Morillon telecabin). It's also usually easy to get a parking space at the Morillon telacabin and there are a further two telecabins within a 5 min drive, or using the ski bus, at Vercland and Samoens. The boulangerie (bakery) is a 5 min walk and local shops (restaurants, bars & small supermarket) are 5 - 10 mins walk. The large main supermarket is a 5 min drive. The Grand Massif has consistently had a good snow rating in recent seasons. In summer, the valley is stunning with wild alpine flowers in the local fields and window boxes full of colourful blooms and plenty of summer activities.

    When booking, you will be asked for a non-refundable deposit of 25% which will secure the booking. The balance will be due 1 month in advance of your arrival. A refundable security and cleaning deposit of €300 is required. Linen and Towels are available separately if required at €17 per person.

  • The main bathroom has a luxuriously large, wide bath with overhead power shower, toilet, sink & heated towel rail. It includes a hair dryer and a socket for hair dryer/razor. Both bathrooms have been recently refurbished with sealed warm wooden floors and the original stone wall of the farmhouse. There is also a 3rd separate toilet.

There is a fourth 'pull-out'/floor bed in the second bedroom which would be appropriate for a child (teenager or younger). Further information can be provided. Notes: The large open-plan tiled living / dining / kitchen area is 40 m2 and triple aspect with views of the garden, meadow beyond and mountains. The lounge area seats 8 comfortably with TV, DVD, CD, stereo etc. A large selection of DVDs, CDs, books and family games is provided. There is also a wooden rack for drying boots, gloves etc and a separate ski locker/bike storage cupboard which was recently added. The dining area also seats 8 comfortably and the kitchen is fully equipped with family-sized fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave, oven and hob, coffee-maker etc. The washing machine is located in the main bathroom, together with a clothes drying rack. There is also an iron and ironing board located in the hallway cupboard. Given the large airy feel of the apartment and the 80cm thick walls, the apartment is naturally cool in summer and warm in winter.

On the day of arrival, the agents will arrange to meet you close to the apartment to hand over the keys and answer any questions you may have. Ski: Morillon is part of the Grand Massif, one of the largest ski areas in the French Alps with 265km of linked piste for all abilities up to an altitude of 2500m. It is easy to ski between Morillon, Flaine, Les Carroz, Samoens and Sixt in the shadow of Mont Blanc, along tree-lined pistes. Less than 1 hours' drive from Geneva airport, Morillon is perfect for time-conscious week enders with easily enough skiing for those on two-week stays. The Grand Massif is part of the 'hands-free' ski pass system and accommodates skiers, snowboarders (no requirement for button lifts/t-bars!) and snow-shoe-rs. For the kids, there is the 'Jam-Park' and adults are easily satisfied with the many mountain bars and restaurants to explore. As you would expect from a developed ski resort, there are many shops to hire boots, skis, boards etc who all have surprisingly reasonable prices. Ski lessons can be booked for groups or individuals in English or French.

Brilliant place to stay & great time had by all!

Stayed at this apartment for a 3-day (4-night) weekend arriving Thurs 7 Feb - Mon 11 Feb. 4 x adults sharing the apartment.

Things we liked:
1. Airport: took us 50 minutes by car each way.

2. Apartment: warm and clean. Beds made up. V quiet & comfortable. The owners had left some essentials until we could get to the supermarket which had not expected. Only request was to replace what we used where practical so the next guests would get the same. V thoughtful. Stereo, DVD and TV as indicated, as well as a varied selection of DVD's, games and books. Our own DVD’s were compatible. Bedrooms big and bathrooms really nice with decent showers and a lovely BIG bath. Would accomodate 7 comfortably.

3. Location: 5-6 minute walk to the boulangerie and nearest bar/restaurant. Ski lift 15 min walk in ski boots so recommend use your car or the ski bus (bus stop only 50 metres away and a bus timetable was provided in an information file). Apartment is at village level which is 700m, so telecabine to and from the main ski slopes.

4. Village: Typical alpine and not too large. Several bars and restaurants to choose from in Morillon and nearby Samoens. Parking near the Telecabine and plenty of ski hire shops. We used "Rolsports", which was just round the corner from the Telecabine and one of the owners' recommendations - my husband loved the skis (which were brand new - though I think that was pure luck and timing on his part). Prices much cheaper than some other alpine resorts. Local supermarket (under 10 minutes walk) has everything you need for a short stay, though we also drove to the Champion (5 mins drive) which, if you have a car, is bigger and has more selection.

5. Skiing: excellent. Plenty of runs for all abilities. Morillon has a brilliant long green from top to bottom called Marvel which is a great last run of the day. All linked and enough for a week.

Things we did not like:
None really. Could not fault the apartment unless you must have English TV (French only channels). Cost of ski passes comparable with all the other French resorts. No ski locker at the apartment but can pick up / drop off skis and boots daily from the ski shops next to the Telecabine if hiring. Some room for boots and the odd pair of skis in the apartment. Left skis in the car overnight mostly.

Score would be a "four and three quarters" on basis of no ski locker but I am going to give it a "five" anyway. Highly recommended and will be returning next year.
