A relaxing five day holiday in sunny Brugge

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this second floor attic flat in Brugge. The property was very clean and extremely well maintained with modern good quality fittings, fixtures and appliances. Everything essential was provided including tea towels, washing up liquid, and cleaning essentials. The wide double windows in the bedroom and the living room give a light airy feel to the flat when the curtains are drawn back (this was a relief as the flat looked rather dark and gloomy in the website pictures).
The owners, Luc and Hedwig, were friendly and welcoming on arrival. They do not live on site but telephone calls to their phones from the flat (for advice and emergencies) are free and in fact we saw them on site most days. Lots of helpful information is provided in a booklet which Hedwig talked us through on arrival. This included some excellent suggestions for local restaurants (graded by price) as well as essentials such as availability/location of Doctors. Further useful information is available downstairs in the lobby (tourist attractions, timetables etc) plus a variety of DVDs and books for residents' use.
We ate at three of the suggested restaurants (and would particularly recommend the Belkoring and the Bistro Cosy). A food bonus, for those who like vegetarian, is that De Bron, serving the most superb vegetarian lunches (but not open every day), is just a 100 meters or so down the road.
The location of the flat, as with most areas of Brugge, is within 10/15 minutes walk of the centre and is a similar walking distance distance from the Station. It is close to Minnewater park and surrounding pretty little streets. Supermarket, bakery and delicatessen are all conveniently within 5 minutes walk.
The only problem we had with the flat was noise levels. It was a minor problem and did not spoil our enjoyment of the flat or our holiday. The noise came in two forms. Firstly we were three adults so we were using the living room sofa bed as the third bed. No real problem there except that it was an attic flat and the wall between bedroom and living room was open at roof space level allowing amplification of noise from the television to invade the main bedroom area. Secondly, with the windows open there was street noise from passing cars. It was perfectly quiet with the windows closed but the weather was too warm for this to be a viable solution - lucky us!
We have no hesitation in recommending this flat to others.
