Krakow is the best-preserved city in Poland, the former capital and seat of the Polish kings and one of the jewels of Eastern Europe. Walking through the Old Town streets is like drifting back through the pages of an historical novel. This is where the Royal Castle of Wawel is located, as is the medieval Cloth Hall (Sukiennice). Krakow boasts churches from every period since the Middle Ages - Renaissance, Baroque, Classicism and is surrounded by monasteries and abbeys. There are opera halls, museums, and other cultural venues, including a centuries-year old university. The student population of the city numbers almost 100,000 and this large student population fires a lively nightlife scene that burns brightly in the atmospheric cellar bars. A visit to the nearby former concentration camp of Auschwitz is an unforgettable experience, as is a visit to the former Jewish district of Kasimierz. Also, don't miss the amazing UNESCO site, Wieliczka Salt Mine.

Notes:

The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances and is large and airy, furnished with a large farmhouse table, butler's sink, dresser and butcher's block. Doors lead out onto a balcony where there is a wrought iron table and chairs. From the balcony there is an excellent view of the communal courtyard which has been landscaped The living room is a spacious, bright room overlooking the tree lined avenue. The living area has an antique chandelier, a dining table and chairs which will comfortably seat six people. There are two sofas (one of which can be converted to a double sofa bed) and a number of tasteful pieces of furniture. The master bedroom has an oak king-size 'sledge' bed and chandelier. The room is furnished with an oak chest of drawers and a mahogany wardrobe. Bedroom 2 has a large built-in wardrobe and a bed that can be used as a single bed, a twin or as double.

The Apartment - general

The apartment is perfectly positioned between the Old Town with its fantastic museums churches and squares; the Jewish District (Kazimierz) and the fabulous Renaissance Wawel Castle - all are approximately a 4 minute walk away. There are numerous tram and bus routes within 2 minutes walk in either direction and the train and bus station are a 10-minute walk away. There is a great variety of restaurants both in the Old City and also in Kazimierz. Across the street from the apartment is a useful grocery store. Easy access to airport, public transport and main roads leading out of Krakow. Central location within walking distance of main attractions. Quiet upscale neighbourhood. Newly decorated and furnished throughout. Over 100m2 living area. Gas central heating throughout.

Your Stay

We want to maximise your enjoyment of your stay so will accommodate your requests as much as we can. For a small fee, you can be met at the airport. Otherwise you will be welcomed at the apartment where we will show you how everything works and help you with any queries you may have about your stay in the city. In the apartment you will find a map and a tourist guide to help you decide what to do and see. We can also arrange tickets for concerts in advance should you wish. The apartment comfortably accommodates children who can play in the courtyard below which you can see from the apartment or within 2 minutes walk is the gardens of the Planty, perfect for a run around. We also own an apartment in Zakopane (property no. 87016) on this website) which perfectly complements a stay in Krakow. Zakopane, winter capital of Poland is an absolute must with its stunning scenery and wealth of activities. We offer you the choice of dividing your stay between Krakow and Zakopane.

Just a quick note to let you both know how much we enjoyed our trip to Krakow.

Our visit was made all the more enjoyable with our stay in your lovely apartment, and the kindness of Leszek and his wife. Please re-iterate to them both how very kind and helpful they were.

Our short holiday was spoilt only by the weather, but as I mentioned, returning to your lovely apartment after a day in the rain was wonderful. I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to family and friends.

We hope to make a return visit, perhaps in the Spring, and if your apartment was available, we would like to repeat the experience. (Karen Lister)
