In the Spring see the valley become green and the waterfalls cascade after the snow melts and the mountain flowers bloom. The Autumn colors are a magnificent feature of the mountains and valleys. Hear the church bells in the village. Gosau has it all. A holiday home for an active week, or a quiet romantic break. Self cater, or book into the hotel's restaurant. Use the many facilities the hotel has to offer: pool, sauna, wellness centre, indoor tennis and more. A walk of 400 metres takes you into the village of Gosau which has all the usual amenities: banks, supermarket, hairdressers, tourist information. Salzburg airport is an hour away and is served by many budget airlines, or take the Euro star to Paris, and then continue your journey by train to Salzburg.

Notes to the rental rates

• Our price includes electricity, constant hot water, and heating. Also the use of the swimming pool and sauna in the hotel.
  Bed linen and towels are provided by the hotel and the cost paid directly to the hotel, along with the end cleaning bill, at the end of your stay.

Summer discount card

There is a card you can purchase which gives discount to over 190 sights and attractions in the area. It's available for a 6 day or 12 day option. Another card giving further discounts in Salzkammergut area is the Salzkammergut card, available at the local tourist office 500 yards from the apartment.

Getting there

Budget flights fly from a number of UK airports into Salzburg. There are also other airports about 3 hours drive away at Munich, Innsbruck, Graz and Linz. Driving from Salzburg, take the A10 to Golling, then the 162 to Abtenau and the 166 to Gosau. At the end of the pass turn right to Gosausee, then the 1st left takes you to the Sporthotel. Alternatively, the train from Salzburg will take you to Golling, where a bus can be caught to Gosau post office, which is at the top of the lane to the Hotel. The whole journey could be done by train using the Eurostar to Paris, then changing to trains to Salzburg. By car from Calais the journey is 1200km.

Skiing Information:

From the hotel the free ski bus will take you to one of the covered lifts which transports you to the heart of the Dachstein ski areas with 140 km of varied runs, 100km of which are provided with snow canons. These runs can take you across to the villages of Russbach and Annaberg, passing many traditional huts on the way where you can buy a hot lunch, or just sit with a drink, soaking up the views. There is a ski hire shop, and the ski pass office, as well as the ski school, at the bottom of the Hornspitz chair lift, where there is also a beginners area, with a free 'magic carpet' lift. For the cross country skier, there are 40km of tracks in the valley, one of the main ones passing yards from the hotel. There are other ski areas a short drive away including the Krippenstein where you can also go husky dog sledging.
