Villa Theos - Pure Chill Out
Review Submitted: November 12, 2008

The villa is a short car journey from the airport, up a fairly steep and winding hill. As described on the web site, hiring a car is a good idea especially if you want to see the island and don't want to spend a lot of time waiting for taxis or the bus. Turning off the main road, the first half of the approach to the villa is basically a gravel track complete with some rather deep pot-holes but as you approach boundary of the property the access becomes a level concrete road. The villa itself is beautiful. The pool is just the right size to splash about in and there is ample poolside furniture for 6 people. Inside, the villa is well laid out, spacious and furnished to a very high standard. The two bedrooms are large and there is ample storage for your holiday wardrobe. The master bedroom has a large balcony and ensuite bathroom with a spacious walk in shower. The second bedroom has a slightly smaller balcony and the ensuite is also smaller, with a single shower cubicle which is a little tight but adequate. The villa and pool are spotlessly clean and maintained regularly thoroughout your stay. The owners offer a small reduction in the rental cost if you do not require a mid-week linen change. There are a few restaurants/tavernas in the village and we tried three of them. "Obelix" is nearest to the villa, providing a take away service and a few waitress service tables. The menu is quite varied and includes traditional greek fare as well as burgers and pasta dishes, OK for your first night and reasonably tasty! "The International" is a 10 minute walk away and serves mainly Italian style food with a take-away option. The food here is also good. There is a small bar opposite which is owned by George, a friend of the villa owners, and by the end of our holiday, a friend of ours too. Another 5 minutes walk and you find "Byrons". This is a family owned restaurant serving mainly local dishes. The speciality is Kefalonia pie which was very good. We ate here twice and on both occasions, some of the food that arrived was not what was ordered. If you eat here a tip is to make sure the waitress writes down your order! For supplies I would recommed a 10-15 minute drive to the "Champion" supermarket which has a vast selection of goods, quite useful for buying in the things needed if you stay in one night and have a barbeque. I would definately recommend this villa to my friends. Whether you want to tour around or simply chill, the choice is yours!
