Catus which is 4 kms by car, has all amenities including a boulangerie, small supermarket, post office, butchers plus a couple of restaurants and a tourist office and a weekly market. Just the other side of Catus is the large fishing and boating lake. It is surrounded by woods and there are also tennis courts, a children's play area, pedaloes and a restaurant overlooking the lake. The department of the Lot is full of interesting villages and beautiful countryside. Visit the chateaux which produce the famous 'black' Cahors wine, canoe on the Lot river and admire the fantastic limestone cliffs along the way, take a trip down into the caves of Gouffre de Padirac or Pech Merle with its prehistoric paintings or buy the local produce of foie gras, walnuts or an abundance of fruit and vegetables at one of the weekly bustling markets. The cliff-top villages of Rocamadour and St Cirq Lapopie are within easy reach as is the stunning Dordogne river.
