With its 6.700 inhabitants, La Colle sur Loup is built among the fertile hills of Vence. Various parts of the town offer beautiful views over the surrounding vineyards and flower fields. The town became officially independent in 1792. It was originally constructed to rehouse the inhabitants of St Paul's village, when their houses were demolished to build St Paul's fortification walls. La Colle sur Loup comprises of numerous interesting sites to be visited, such as the impressive medieval monasteries of 'Canadel' founded in 1012, the old limestone factory, the oil mil selling delicious olive oil, the soap factory, as well as the annual celebration of the ancient craft trades in September, and the antic street Rue Yves Klein. La Colle sur Loup also offers various sport activities such as rafting/canyoning, horse riding and trout fishing alongside the river 'Le Loup'. The delightful and picturesque village of Saint Paul is built on top of a hill.
