Barat is a luxuriously restored French Maison de Maitre set in 35 acres of private woodland. The main house provides 4 double bedrooms and 3 bathrooms, 2 receptions, large kitchen, utility and breakfast room with substantial south facing terrace overlooking the brand new and totally private pool. Barat is perfectly situated to visit the famous vineyards of St Emilion, the historic towns of Pé arigueux, Bergerac and Castillion la Bataille, the city of Bordeaux and the prehistoric caves of Lascaux. Also close by is a lakeside beach resort. Also included is La Chaumiere, a 1 bedroom entirely self contained annex. La Chaumiere includes a lounge/kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and open area off the lounge which can sleep an additional 4 persons if required.

Barat is between the Bastide market town of Ste Foy de la Grande (10 mins) and Montpon Monesterol (15 mins). Barat is close to the village of St Meard de Gurcon, traditonal French village with 2 restaurants, a general store, 2 boulangeries, church and pharmacie. Both restaurants are excellent. Nearby is Lac du Gurcon which features a fresh water lake with beach facilities including water slide, beach volleyball, climbing frames, pedaloos and beach bars. On the Dordogne in Ste Foy there are several places to rent canoes or kayaks. Tennis is readily available as if fishing. Barat is on the border of ther Bergerac and Bordeaux AOC and the historic St Emilion is a mere 30 mins drive away. We can arrange tours of local vineyars with full explanations of the wine making process in English.
