The local area is steeped in history, the region includes bastide villages such as Cordes, Puycelci, Bruniquel, Sainte Antonin and Penne. The Cathars famously governed hundreds of years ago and their influence is still very much in evidence today. Toulouse, the 'Rose City' is less than an hour away and Carcassonne is in easy reach.
The scenery is dramatic and varied, from the Vere Valley, through the largest Oak forest in Europe and into the Tarn gorges, that slice a great cavern through the local rock. The region is also famous for its wine production and local gastronomic delicacies, such as Foie Gras and Confit du Canard. If you have a healthier appetite, try the Cassoulet! There are many things to see and do including walking, climbing, cycling, canoeing, swimming, gliding and skiing in the winter months in the Pyrenees. Alternatively, why not just relax by the pool with a bottle of Domain de Gayssou (produced right in front of the property!) and relax at La Petite Maison.
