'Meia Quinta' is a spacious self catering apartment in the village of Odiaxere which is 5 mins from Lagos town and the Marina. It's location makes in a wonderful base for your holiday whatever you plan to do!! You have the peace, quiet and beauty of the Portugese countryside and your own private garden to enjoy. You can choose to kick back and relax, taking leisurely walks or exploring on a bike or take a 5 min drive to the beautiful Meia Praia beach. Lagos is a short 5 minute drive away with so many fabulous restaurants and bars as well as being full of historic sights. The Palmeres golf course is about 2 mins away and picturesque Alvor is only a short drive. The owners are John & Elaine who are a Yorkshire couple. They live on site but you will not loose your privacy as the apartment is facing away from their residence. It is a good sized property with 1 bedroom, good sized kitchen area, living area (which has extra bed space if needed) and bathroom. TV, DVD player & Sky TV

The location of the property is the perfect base for exploring the Western Algarve. Lagos is a short drive away and unlike other stretches of the Algarve, the area has retained its Portuguese charm and hasn't been spoilt by over development. Instead, the coastline is a delight, Lagos alone has 9 glorious beaches and the promenade walk into the quaint town is rewarded with cafes, shops and the bustling harbour. You can spend hours wandering through the quaint cobbled streets exploring the shops and enjoying the history, or sit out in the square and enjoy a cool beer or leisurely meal. Nearby Alvor is a quaint coastal village that is now a very popular holiday location, the enclosed narrow streets are so charming and most streets boast bars with live music and different types of fabulous restaurants. The Superbike 'autodromodo' is nearby as well as golf, riding, zoos, waterparks, sailing, wine tasting, scuba diving, fishing, wakeboarding, windsurfing etc... plenty to keep you busy!

  • Tha prices are for two people, An exra charge of £10 per person per night to maximum £50 per week.Payment can be made in UK sterling or Euros. A 25% deposit must be paid in order to confirm the booking and the balance paid 8 weeks prior to your arrival. Payment can be made by cheque, bank transfer or by Paypal. Please email or phone with any questions or to arrange your booking. Should you have any special requests or problems with dates etc. please get in touch and we will do our very best to accomodate you. We will be happy to help with any queries you may have and also provide you with details of an excellent car hire firm.
  • A short drive from the apartment you will find an excellent supermarket - Pingo Doce. Here you will find everything you need from fresh fish, meat and fruit to wines, freshly baked bread and pastries. There is even a dry cleaners and a flower shop. The daily fresh fish market in the town is well worth a visit and on Saturdays there is a local market near the bus station. If you enjoy culture you will be spoilt for choice in Lagos. In the summer months you can see open air concerts at the amphitheater. The art galleries in the old slave market building and regimental warehouse are well worth a visit. The cultural centre of Lagos frequently has recitals and art exhibitions and Lagos has a cinema showing the latest films in English. Take a walk along the promenade to the Governor's castle with it's famous manueline style window and the 18th century fort with drawbridge and moat at the entrance to the harbour. On the way visit the baroque church of St Anthony and the Museum of Lagos

Notes: The apartment has it's own parking area and large private garden which is enclosed for your privacy. The garden enjoys good views and has several fruit trees from which you can help yourself!! The garden has pathways running around the edge and lawned area as well as a little patio area which is wonderful for eating al-fresco. Regular local bus services.

BEACHES: The beaches around Lagos are amongst the most beautiful in the Algarve. Meia Praia is the nearest beach to the apartment and can be reached by car in about 5 minutes. This beautiful beach forms part of one of the largest bays in Europe and its seemingly endless white sands stretch out for 4 km. There is a windsurf center on the beach and at the Marina visitors can book many other activities, including diving, water skiing, big game fishing and boat trips around the spectacular coastline. Dotted along the beach you will find plenty of good restaurants and beach bars for drinks, lunch or dinner. In addition to Meia Praia there are numerous other beaches within a 5-10 minute drive of the marina. Dona Ana, Porto de Mos, Camillo, Luz, Salema and Burgau are favourites, they are all family friendly with good facilities. A little further afield one can visit the west coast with its wild and beautiful beaches. The enormous waves on these beaches make them very popular with surfers.

DAY TRIPS: Take the road up into the green mountains of Monchique, at almost every turn you will encounter a stunning panorama of sea and mountains. Foia at 903 metres is the highest point in the Algarve. Visit the Caldas de Monchique, the hot springs for which Monchique is famous, try some chicken piri-piri for lunch. -Head out of Lagos on the N125 towards Sagres taking a detour via Ponte de Piedade, a huge rock formation hollowed out by the seas. From there continue to Sagres and Cape St Vincent, the most westerly point in Europe with its fortress and superb views of the west coast. -The Barragem de Bravura is a man made lake, a beautiful and peaceful spot, a place to relax and enjoy nature. -It is certainly worth a drive to Vila do Bispo and Aljezur to visit the wild and beautiful beaches at Castelejo, Cordama,Odeceixe, Amoreira,Bordeira and Amado. -Take the exciting Dolphin Safari trip from the Marina, or the Bom Dia boat for an interesting and relaxing day trip around the coast.
