Day trips:
Umbria offers a wide choice. From Etruscan through Roman, mediaeval and Renaissance times, the region contains a wealth of evidence of its varied past. Our favourite hill town is Orvieto with its beautiful mosaic fronted cathedral, cobbled streets, good restaurants and lively market. Walking through the streets of Orvieto, you never lose touch with its history through three thousand years.Nearby Orvieto you have to visit Cività di Bagnoreggio and the Bolsena lake. The hill town of Todi (40 km) with its attractive historical centre, stunning piazza and breathtaking views.Situated near the Lazio border a day trip to Rome(150 km) is a must Home of the Vatican, the first stop for most visitors is the wealth of artistic treasures in its museums. There is too much to take in on one day but the Roman Forum and Colosseum are an easy walk from the central shopping streets, as well as the pretty cobbled streets of the Pantheon, Trevi Fountain, Spanish steps and Piazza Navona.
