Photos and Description of this .1st Louvre holiday apartment 2 bedroom apartment with balconies at Chatelet in Arr 1, the heart of Paris

If you want to discover Paris on foot, this is the place to be. Our beautiful architect-designed apartment lies in the very heart of Paris at Chatelet in the first arrondissement. Located on the top floor of an 18th -C listed building on a quiet, leafy street opposite one of the city's most romantic flower markets. A ten minute stroll in any direction takes you to famous landmarks including the Seine, Ile de Cite, Centre Pompidou and the Louvre. A bright and airy 'artist's garret' with stunning views, our apartment has been simply modernised whilst retaining its historic features. The living area has a South facing balcony, an inviting sofa area, well-equipped with books, satellite TV, DVDs and CDs. We often stay ourselves and love to gather around our big oak dining table. You will enjoy playing chef in the well equipped kitchen and the view of the twinkling river at night certainly takes the edge off the washing up! The apartment is a home from home for us and we hope for you too.

Car: not necessary
Steeped in history, with buildings from the 18th and 19th -C on one side and the Theatre Musical de Paris on the other, we are just one block north of the Quai Megisserie which runs across the Seine with bookstalls and flower markets. Place Chatelet with the gilded victory atop a column and surrounding fountains has claim to be the centre of Paris. A 10 minute walk South takes you across the bridge to the Ile de Cite and Notre Dame. To the East, the Hotel de Ville; to the North, Centre Pompidou, to the West the Louvre. We are at the crossroads of all transport: Metro, RER and buses. If, like us, you are passionate about food then this is a great part of the city to base yourself in. One of the country's oldest and most loved gourmet food markets on rue Montorgueil is a short walk away, whilst below our apartment is one of the best boulangeries in Paris. Shopping, sightseeing, cultural entertainments and, of course, great and varied places to eat are all within easy reach.

central and cosy at the same time

nikl Frankfurt am Main
Review Submitted: July 20, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had a very nice stay in Paris! Everything worked fine, Mme W. welcomed us at the apartment and explained everything to us, and we were really enchanted by the nice views to Théâtre du Châtelet and the Seine. But in particular my parents and I liked very much the decoration of the apartment that is quite functional and very cosy at the same moment – a combination you can't find very often. (My mother was absolutely enthused about the well organised kitchen cupboards, including the little tags indicating which item had to be where!) Thanks to the very central situation of the apartment we could discover quite a lot of Paris, and even with my old father who is not very quick on his feet anymore we could do some walks to Notre Dame, to the Quartier Latin or to Marais, and for the longer distances we could easily take a cab. So our stay in Paris really was a raving success!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. Like you we enjoy being at home in the apartment, cooking the delicious things the Paris street market offers
and then dining with a view of the river and St Chapelle.
Hope you will be able to return!

Mother-Daughter Paris adventure

Ann and Molly Chicago, IL
Review Submitted: August 11, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We found the location of the apartment convenient to many things. We like to take walks and so strolled nightly to see the sights after dark--and felt very safe doing so. The walk to the food market was quite fun: we arrived at our home away from home with bags of vegetables, cheeses, breads and flowers. We ate dinners on the small balcony instead of the table!

We did meet some of the other residents and found them to be very helpful and welcoming.

The apartment did get warm during the day, but the fans and open windows did cool the resdience off so that we were able to sleep well during the night.

Thanks for a nice play to call home during our travels.

Great Location....

Fishpistol Watertown, WI, USA
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This was a great place to stay. It was central to everything we wanted to see while in Paris, Notre Dame, St. Capella, The Louvre, etc. There was a metro stop a block away where we took the train from the airport. We really enjoyed the fact that everything thing was within walking distance. The apartment was a very good size and having two rooms worked very well. We didn't have to worry about noise at all since the neighborhood was quiet and the windows on the apartment were very thick. The internet, phone and all other equipment worked great. The beds were comfortable, clean and rooms a good size. It is a top floor apartment but it had a elevator that made getting there a snap. Someone met us to show us the apartment and the owner stayed in contact the whole time. There is a grocery store right around the corner and a great bakery below the apartment on the same block. There were no surprises on what to expect and we really enjoyed our stay.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your review Patrick, about our apartment in Paris.

We love going there for many of the reasons you mention.
Delighted it worked well for you and hope you'll return.
We do appreciate your taking the time to post a review. It is very helpful for all those people who are not sure what life in an apartment might be like, or even if the apartment actually exists!

A magical place!

Ann and Woody Canada
Review Submitted: April 12, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
If we had a flat in Paris, this is the one we'd like to have. It has everything you need, including lots of light and delightful views of the flowing Seine. The kitchen is cleverly designed. The bedrooms are modest but comfortable. The location is really it's best asset, you are a brief stroll from everything, museums, music, grocery store, flowers, churches, shopping, movie theaters. And at the end of the day an elevator saves a climb to the 7th floor. We found we could easily come back in the late afternoon, regroup, and be off again. Everything was so easily accessible. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

Home from home in Paris

Corrig London, England
Review Submitted: February 18, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
The apartment is in the best location in Paris. Metro, bakeries, supermarket, all types of restaurants, a concert hall, the Siene, Rue de Rivoli are all within 3 minutes walk. The apartment itself is beautifully presented and maintained and exellent assistance was provided on arrival.
All the information provided in advance was correct and I would thoroughly recommend the Architect's Eyrie Overlooking th Seine.
