A unique opportunity to experience the ex-pat lifestyle while holidaying in Puglia. Casa Mare is owned by English ex-pats now resident in Italy and who are now making their spacious, well-equipped home exclusively available for just a few weeks each year. Benefiting from beach location, 12x6m solar heated swimming pool, external hot tub, air-conditioning, Wifi internet and all the comforts of home (including 5 cats) all in the heart of Puglia. Fresh seasonal produce including asparagus, artichokes, peaches, strawberries and of course tomatoes, salad and herbs are freely available from our gardens. The Puglia Chef is on hand too, to provide catered meals - traditional Pugliese style - if required (additional costs apply).

Close to Lecce, the Florence of the South, and to the Port of Brindisi. The historic centres of Ostuni, San Vito dei Normanni, Cisternino, Ceglie and others are all within an easy drive. Fasano Zoo Safari and Alberobello, home of the Trulli, the port of Otranto, Gallipoli and and many other beautiful towns/cities are all within 1 hours drive. There is a Water Park near Gallipoli. Lendinuso is walking distance and has a wonderful bakery/corner store open all year and a great butchers (seasonal) as well as markets, geletaria, pizzeria and other entertainment in the season. Torre San Genarro is also close by, half an hours walk or 5 minutes by car offering live entertainment in the season, a small supermarket, bakery, cafe-bars, restaurants and beaches. Nearby towns have supermarkets, butchers, fishmongers, greengrocers, post office, bank and hairdressers. Also some great restaurants and cafe-bars. Large hypermarkets, Auchan and Carrefour, within 20 minutes drive.

  • The bathroom has recently been modernised and extended to include a full size walk in shower. There is also an outside bathroom with shower, basin and toilet. There is also an external solar powered hot water shower near the swimming pool.

Notes: Lawn and borders to the front of the villa, sea views to the left and swimming pool to the right as you look out from the veranda. The pool is surrounded by patios. Garden recliners, patio tables/ chairs provided. The 12x6m pool, shared only occasionally with the owners, is heated by solar panels and has a solar bubble cover to help retain heat at night, making it available from April to Nov - year round for the hardy! Pool is cleaned and maintained daily. There is a bar complete with fridge near the pool.To the rear of the pool there is a full size hot springs hot tub, gazebo covered with masses of bougainvillea. Relax with a glass of wine and star-gaze in the soft summer nights. The property is enclosed by walls all around and accessed via double gates. Venture out of the gates and you will see the Adriatic Sea just 30 yards away. The beach here is sandy, small and uncommercialised. Internet access is wifi satellite upload/download link. Washing machine is in the outside bathroom.

We all found Casa Mare better than a home from home. The pool is fabulous and the beach a joy, and it's on the doorstep!
All the extra touches like the barbecue, the great kitchen and more help and advice than anyone can ask for made our holiday extra special.
We all loved the private peaceful feeel to the house, garden and location. Definitely a great holiday destination.
Recommended for:  Families with Young Children, Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Romantic Getaway, Sightseeing

The villa was very well appointed and maintained to a high standard with all the facilities you would expect. The pool was the biggest we have ever had on a holiday rental!
We were a little anxious before the holiday about the owners living on site - we like our privacy as a family - but we had no need to be worried, the owners (Bob and Debbie) were on hand if we needed them but let us get on with our holiday as if they weren't there.
The area was very unspoilt and very much a resort for Italians. Very few spoke English and we spoke next to no Italian but we got by with gestures, signs and a bit of luck and found the local people to be very friendly and helpful.
The weather was baking hot (last week in July and first week in August) but with the sea about 30 yards away and the pool at the villa, we spent most of the time in the water!
Recommended for:  Families with Young Children, Sightseeing
Owner's Response: We understand the concerns about us living on the premises; we would feel the same! We do try to respect our guests privacy whilst being available to help, as Irons has said. Our own apartment is self-contained, we spend most of our time on the beach or on our own separate patio on the opposite side of the house to the pool area.
We've had non stop sunshine and hot days from the middle of May; and continuing throughout August. September is usually hot and sunny too but with cooler nights, October can also be good but we may see some rain.
