Altos de Chavon - Most Romantic Location

Altos de Chavon was inspired by a 16th Century Mediterranean village ona cliff top building of rusty coral rock everywhere festooned with bougainvillea and sprays of hibiscus and inhabited by a colony of artists. The Church of San Estanisloa is in the center of the village. Italian architect Roberto Copa designed the village in 1976 and it was build by Charles Buldhorn(President of Golf & Western Corporation who did the development of Casa De Campo in the 1970’)as a birthday gift to his daughter ! In Altos de Chavon you will find a bakery, supermarket, fine dining open air first class restaurants, bars, an art gallery weaving and ceramic studios, a regional museum of archaeology that documents the island rich Pre-Columbian Taino heritage and a Design School affiliated to the Parsons School of Design in New York. The village also have a 5,000 seat open air Greek style amphitheatre, which was inaugurated in 1982 by Frank Sinatra with The Concert for the Americas.

Cueva de las Maravillas: Cueva de las Maravillas is located between San Pedro de Macoris and La Romana; here you can find rupestrian art. The caves were recently awarded with the Landscape Architecture-Public Award from the Bienal Miami + Beach. Scuba Diving: Catalina Island :The island is home to the wall, a coral reef wall of more than 90 feet with excellent visibility where you can see very large fish, such as grouper and different species of coral. The National Park of the East. Here you can find a wide variety of coral formations. A popular area among divers is Saona Island; this island is protected and has wealth of wild and marine life, such as whales, sea turtles and sharks. St. Georges . This is a well visited site by divers. St. George is a sunken barge near the Club Viva Dominicus. The ship was sunk to create a natural protected habitat for coral reefs that are in danger of extinction. Horseback Riding. Rancho Cumayasa is about 10 min. from the apartment.
