Creatively restored village house set on the hillside village of Rodes in the Pyrenees. Superb views from all rooms over Mt Canigou with sunny roof terrace. Roof terrace has seating and Spanish BBQ. Sun-room terrace with satellite television. Twin-bedded room with en-suite shower room and toilet. Double room with original french brass bed also with en-suite shower room and toilet. Dining area and open-plan kitchen. Downstairs has entrance and storage. The property is in a superb position for getting to the Mediterranean beaches and also 3km away from a swimming lake. on the wonderful wine trails and Cathar castles. Great for mountain and lower hill walking. Ski resorts of the Pyrenees are 1hours drive away. Close to Spanish border and 20mins away from Perpignan airport.

Superbly situated between coast and mountains. Local walks and close to wine trails Facilities at Rodès include a good restaurant, grocery shop, tennis court and post office. You can swim at Vinça’s lake 5 minutes away, or 35 minutes away enjoy some of the best beaches on the Mediterranean. Both Prades and Ille-sur-Têt, two nearby towns, hold regular colourful markets and have a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants. The famous 'Little Yellow Train', with its open carriages starts from Villefranche (25 minutes drive) and winds its way through narrow gorges, high viaducts and breathtaking views into the Pyrenees Mountains. There are a multitude of villages and small towns to discover in the region including Castelnou with its winding cobbled paths and Collioure, the charming fishing village famous for its links with the Impressionist painters. Then, you could spend a day exploring Barcelona and the coast.

we just love this place it was peacefull ja nice view. We make all trips by puplic transport it was good.Ian and Kim was really nice.
Owner's Response: a peaceful place to stop and rest and yet close to lots of amenities, beaches and mountains.
it is possible to get around on public transport easily and the buses are only 1euro anywhere in the region!

Wonderful holidays at Rodes

We have stayed in this property twice and would love to stay there again. We particularly love the view from all the rooms across the rooftops of the village to Mount Canigou and have vivid memories - and photos! - of the view from the rooftop terrace at breakfast-time or in the evening. The view changes according to the time of day or weather and, though we rarely had bad weather, we'd have been quite happy to stay inside on a rainy day, as the appartment is tastefully decorated and light and airy - and Canigou looks very dramatic swathed in clouds! We cooked for ourselves quite a lot and found everything we needed in the kitchen, but we also found good restaurants nearby. We did lots of walks from the village, as well as exploring the beautiful hilltop villages, monasteries and Romanesque churches nearby - and there's a lake for swimming not far from the village. We loved the market at Prades and the many stalls of peaches, nectarines and apricots at the roadside. Both our stays have been in July, but we'd like to go at another time of year, as I think the area would have a great deal to offer in every season.

A lovely restored village house in a superb location. The house was comfortable and clean, all provisions of usual cutlery, crockery, kitchen stuff etc etc was plentiful. Rodes is a lovely hillside village with a few amenities and far enough from the main road to be peaceful but with easy access to the bigger towns. The weather could have been kinder but the last couple of days gave us the views of Mount Canigou to die for - and from the lovely roof terrace of the house. Kim was very helpful on our arrival and we knew in any occurance of mishaps that she was only a 'phone call away. Fortunately there were none.
A beautiful area - high mountains, easy walks and coast all within an hour or so of the house. We would certainly hope to return one day.
