Disappointing Property

The villa has three double bedrooms and a sofa bed. A 10 to 15 minute drive to a beach would involve dangerously fast driving! Following is part of an email which was sent to the owners on our return. We have not received a reply or the return of deposit yet. We strongly discourage any one from renting this villa:
We received your email asking us to review your villa. Sooner than doing so we think that probably you would prefer to have sight of our observations and comments, giving you a chance to redress the situation prior to publication.
We arrived at the villa and were received by your representatives.The first observation was that the swimming pool was green with algae and not circulating, when commented on, the response was that the pool man and gardener came on Fridays and that the system worked. This was, as you know, Wednesday morning! There were no sun loungers and that the rest of the plastic furniture was inside. We were also informed that the ceiling fan in the bedroom did not work. It became obvious that it had been closed up for a very long time (You know that musty smell) after a scant clean. The first thing we did was to sweep the floors, we noticed cracked moving tiles at the entrance to the kitchen. The bathroom mirror hadn’t been cleaned since the last occupant and was splashed with toothpaste and powder, as was the shelf below it.
Nothing gave the impression of being particularly clean. Including the linen.
We spent the first night at the villa( Wednesday) and we returned on the Sunday morning after the wedding. Nothing had changed! We understood from site that there would be a change of linen once during the week usually on the third day, the gardener & the pool man had obviously not been, as the pool was now looking more like a pond & the garden had certainly not been touched! No one had been in or around the house. Apart from that is, our surprise neighbour, who parks his car in your drive way blocking the exit, who was at this moment smoking a cigarette and regarding us with suspicion! This explained the noises of running water and people showering after we had retired to bed on the Wednesday evening. One of your representatives had mentioned as an aside on leaving, that “there is an old couple next door but they won’t disturb you” We didn’t understand that they lived in a part of the house! Don’t you think that this should be mentioned on your site?
We were so depressed we moved out that day.

The Villa is situated 10-15 minutes drive from the Cape `s choice Beaches outside peak hours.This large, secure, private Villa boasts a separate lounge,openplan dining/family room that flows onto the patio.The villa, private swimming pool and tranquil garden is set on 2000square meters of land. The house has 4 bedrooms (2 x double bedrooms,1x double en-suite bedroom and bedroom 4has a sofa bed. We also offer a (garden flatlet with ensuite) that sleeps 2 people which can be rented in addition to the house or separately.
Aslo bear in mind that Foreign currency bank transfers may take up to 7 working days for deposit refunds.Thelma and James ,our house representatives welcomes guests and are on-call for the duration of your stay.
Please inspect the Villa on arrival and do not hesitate to contact us, the owners, or our representatives within 24 hours of arrival at the Villa, to give us the opportunity to provide you with the great customer service we offer to all our guests. The maintenance team regularly forwards pictures to us, to show the condition of the property and a cleaning rota is clearly displayed at the Villa to confirm the linen/towel changes/housekeeping ( this means staff have to sign and date it) . Sadly Steve and Lucy never contacted our representatives or ourselves during their stay at the Villa.
