As Waitrose do not deliver here, if you give us a list we can even do your first shop for you, if it would help. The boulangerie is in the village...350 metres, as is the small supermarket, so food is never a problem. They even open on Sunday mornings! Fig Tree Cottage

Review Submitted: July 3, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Josephine and I spent the perfect week in Fig Tree Cottage in June 2009.
The quality of accomodation, the friendliness of Barry and Jayne, the beautifully tended gardens, the perfect pool are all outstanding, whatever the weather. We were blessed with sunshine and showers (more sun than showers) and it all added up to the ideal holiday.
Everything that you could reasonably ask for, and more, has been thought of, it's the ideal location to relax, or if feeling more energetic, to explore the stunning Lot valley and the nearby Dordogne. Villages, towns, markets and restaurants are all within easy reach, you will never be at a loss for something to do, and all with the knowledge of returning each evening to the home from home comforts of Fig Tree Cottage.
Barry and Jayne have got it exactly right, you won't be dissappointed and we plan to return

A perfect weekend (wish it had been longer!)

G&T Stafford, UK
Review Submitted: November 14, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
I spent a long weekend here with my family and could not fault it in any way. The property is extremely well equipped and the location is perfect. The rooms are beautifully decorated and careful thought has gone into the fixtures and fittings to ensure comfort. Gardens, pool, views are second to none. Alll amenities are close and within walking distance. Some lovely restaurants in the village and also within short driving distance. Jayne and Barry are great hosts and went out of their way to ensure we had a comfortable stay. I would not hesitate in recommending this to families, couples or groups of friends. We will most certainly return for a longer stay.

Perfect honeymoon

Owen and Louise Bristol
Review Submitted: October 2, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We've just got back from our 2 week honeymoon at Fig Tree cottage and we've thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

We enjoyed lots of fresh figs and grapes from the garden (one of the grape vines grows over the front door which is cute). There are also apple trees, pear trees, walnut trees, and cherry trees and we were welcome to pick fruit as it ripened.

The local amenities and restaurants are close enough - bakers down the road, and supermarkets within about 15 to 20 mins drive.

Rocamadour is also close - as is Sarlat but unlike Rocamadour and Sarlat, Payrac isn't touristy at all.

The hosts (Barry and Jayne) were great... they didn't get in our way and were always there when we needed them (like to tell us about French road laws!). They went out of their way to make our stay special and we found ourselves welcomed as friends from the moment we arrived.

Great location, lovely cottage and perfect hosts... we couldn't have asked for more for our honeymoon in France.

If Carlsberg did French holidays..........

Garfy Northampton
Review Submitted: September 22, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
If you want real France and a place to relax, unwind and even disappear, then you can't get much better than Barry and Jayne's French escape. The quietness and tranquillity of the countryside combined with the friendliness of the locals and close locality of the shops creates a perfect base to enjoy your well earned rest. If you want to relax and stay by the pool, you can, but if you want to be more adventurous then there are a number of unique and varied attractions for both young and old to enjoy. From zip wiring between trees at 150ft to feeding the monkeys in their natural surroundings in Rocamadour, there's more than enough to entertain you and the family.

Overall, it's easy to relax in the cosy and homely accommodation created by the owners which is typical of their 'no pressure' and 'it's your holiday' approachable style.

Definitely worth a try and definitely one the R's family will be returning to!

FIg Tree Cottage Forever

The reluctant canoeists Stepps Glasgow
Review Submitted: August 24, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
My wife and I stayed at Fig tree cottage in July this year. The experience was wonderful from the moment we arrived. We were met on arrival by our delightful hosts, Jayne and Barry who gave us the tour of the property and a fridge stocked with tasty delights to see us through to the next day.Can I say the pictures do not do the place justice. The cottage was spotless and tastefully decorated with all mod cons and perfectly laid out. French doors lead you out onto the terrace complete with table and chairs and parasol, thereafter you are surrounded by a lovingly tended garden leading onto the beautiful swimming pool which is big enough to work off the excess calories consumed. Jayne and Barry's hospitality was second to none throughout the holiday.Payrac is within easy walking distance and offers all amenities required. Larger towns, such as Souillac and Gourdon, with supermarkets are within 15-20 minutes by car.
The Lot and nearby Dordogne proved to be a delightful surprise to us.Plenty to see and do. We highly recommend Fig tree cottage and look forward to a return visit.
