Things to do in Russia
Russia is an absolutely vast country, where visitors can choose between the massively vibrant cities, where amazingly elegant, elaborate monuments to Russia’s old glory dominate the skyline, or the timeless Siberian village life. The dissolution of the Soviet Union has meant that Russian culture has come back with more vibrancy and excitement than ever before, making tourism in Russia now an absolutely wonderful experience. Russia is enjoying a cultural revival, with the arts once again flourishing in all the major cities and markets across the country once again thrive with colour and noise.
The vast expanses of countryside, encompasses huge wetlands, including the largest freshwater lake in the world, towering mountains and huge forests in which nature and wildlife thrive. Russia has only recently opened up to tourism, and if you would like to escape to truly unspoilt countryside, Siberia is the best place on earth to relax and escape.
There are some fantastic festivals to enjoy from a holiday rental in Russia. The Moscow Film Festival, held every second August (in odd-numbered years) and the Russian Winter Festival in late December (celebrated in Moscow, St Petersburg and Novgorod) are wonderful times to be staying in self catering Russian accommodation.

Weather in Russia
Tourism in Russia thrives during July and August when temperatures average around 24?C, which may come as a pleasant surprise to those who look at Russia as a cold, bleak country. Of course, making climatic generalisations about such a vast, varied country is not hugely accurate, there are some good rules of thumb to follow. Winters are very cold in Russia, with temperatures ranging from anything from 10?C to -50?C! The shoulder season, in May and June, and again from September until October is a particularly pleasant time to travel to Russian accommodation.
