This elegant flat is both a delightful hide-away for two people and charming & convivial for four. Opera, music, art, markets, shops & restaurants are all close by in this historic pedestrian centre. A car park at the top of the road is a few steps away. In 15 minutes you can walk to the station, in 20 you can drive to the airport or beach. You climb 3 floors up stone spiral stairs & find yourself in the main room, with light & air coming in from its 7 windows on 2 sides. Across the rooftops you see the spire of St Annes, the highest point visible from all around, & in the distance at night the lights of the seaside town of Palavas. Up another flight is the mezzanine, off which is the double bedroom under the beam that holds up the roof. In the kitchen you can prepare fresh food from the local markets. The vineyards of the region boast some special wines too. Montpellier is host to several major festivals of music, dance and film and home of the famous Musee Fabre.

Montpellier is the capital of Languedoc Roussillon. To the north, the Cevennes, south east the Camargue, south the long sandy beaches of the Mediterranean, the major fishing port of Sete, the oyster beds of Bouzigues, to the west the beautiful vineyards & olive groves of the Herault valley, then you climb up the gorge to historic villages & towns like Aniane & St Guilhem le Desert. All around, the renowned vineyards, Pic St Loup, Mas de Daumas Gassac, Picpoul de Pinet, Clairette d'Ardissan to name a few. Montpellier is an ancient university town & has the youngest population in France. The old town bustles with life, with particular emphasis on music of all sorts, & all year round cafe culture. A highlight of the year is the festival of music of Radio France, with rare performances of opera & classical music, by international stars & young discoveries alike. The historic centre is now a pedestrian zone, creating calm & quiet, & clear air. Come & wander in the sun.

A perfect holiday!

My boyfriend and I stayed in this apartment for a week in August. What a fantastic holiday it was! The apartment is right in the centre of Montpellier, in a nice area and down a quiet street. The apartment itself has so much character and there is everything you could need! We cooked in for a few nights and the kitchen has every utensil you'd need. It was really nice to have things like beach towels to use as well-it gave the stay a personal feel. The owners were really helpful and welcoming. Montpellier is a fantastic town with lots going on. There are also lots of lovely places to visit nearby and the trains, buses and trams were really efficient. We went canoeing one day and I would recommend Canoe Montana-really friendly (and will pick you up and drop you off at the bus stop). We were also really impressed with the bicycle hire at TAM (2 euros a day!!) We used them to get to the beach. All the meals we had out were fantastic-the French really know how to cook!

What a gem!

We stayed in this great apartment in September this year. It was everything we had wanted; right in the old city, walking distance of everywhere we wanted to go; very well equipped and comfortable: indeed a lovely experience. We hope to return when next coming on our own to Montpellier. Although the apartment sleeps 5 (extra single bed and sofa bed) we preferred having the whole place to ourselves! The only caveats we would add: parking is expensive and adds to the overall cost and, as pointed out in the advert the apartment is up stairs - 60 of them!! But you are fit by the end of a week.
