Additional information about rental rates

  • 1. 30% rental deposit payable to confirm the booking, balance due 8 weeks prior to arrival date.
    2. Payments by credit card via Paypal, UK sterling bank transfer, USA dollar cheque, French euro cheque or bank transfer.
    3. Security deposit cheque for the equivalent of 300 euros in your own currency required, this will be destroyed/ repaid (less costs for breakages/extra cleaning).
    4.Cancellations must be made in writing. Up to 120 days before rental start date –– deposit refunded less an admin fee of 75 euros & any bank or Paypal fees incurred. After this deadline a refund will only be given once or if we are able to re-let the accommodation less any re-advertising costs, administration & or promotional discounts to secure booking. In normal circumstances it will be possible to relet given sufficient notice of cancellation. See T's & C's for full terms.
    5.Rates for 3 night winter lets are for up to 4 guests, additional guests 25€ pppn.
    5.Change-over day Friday, arr. 4pm dep. 10am.

    'Sarlat is good for a holiday & this house is a great base from which to explore. Sarlat is very busy & I recommend you stay IN town rather than outside as you can never park at least in July & August. Furnished to a very high standard, just about everything you need was provided. Decor is faultless, bedlinen fresh & all white+tonnes of pool & bathroom towels. The pool is small but attractively landscaped with lots of comfy loungers.   • There is an en suite shower room to the Master Bedroom on the first floor and a Family Bathroom on the second floor with a shower over the bath. On the ground floor there is an additional cloakroom toilet. All of the bath and shower room fittings are new for 2008.

  • The first floor Master Bedroom has a comfortable Kingsize 160cm bed with an en suite shower room. Across the hallway is a lovely light room with period feature and two comfortalbe single beds . On the second floor is a third Bedroom, this room has a single bed that converts to a comfortable large double 160cm bed. Please note that this room has a reduced height doorway of approx. 5 feet. On this floor there is also a Family Bathroom with a shower over the bath. All the beds will be made up for your arrival with white cotton bed sheets & feather duvets, but please advise in advance if you would like the second floor bedroom made up as a single or a double room. A change of bed linens & towels is provided each week for longer stays. The twin beds in bedroom 2 can be placed together for those who wish to make a larger 180 cm double bed. We have a travel cot and high chair for your use, but please do enquire at time of booking for availability.

Notes: GENERAL HOUSE NOTES :- This is a lovely turn of the century town house with high ceilings, fireplaces, period coving & light & airy rooms with a south aspect. This house was totally renovated during 2008 with all new kitchen & bathroom fittings & has been decorated in a sympathetic period style using Farrow and Ball paints. To the front of the house in the Square is the ground for the Sarlat Petanque Club, & matches are played most Sunday afternoons throughout the year which are great fun to watch. KITCHEN NOTES:- This is a fully equipped kitchen, with all the pots and pans necessary. We also provide tea towels and a hand towel and some store cupboard essentials such as salt & pepper, flour, oil, sugar, teas & coffee. Please bring your own powder or liquid for the washing machine and dishwasher tablets.

LOCAL ACTIVITIES: Lazily drifting down the Dordogne river in a canoe, passing Chateaux, Bastides & medieval villages as you go is not to be missed. Take your own picnic & stop off at one of the many beaches along the river, or pull in for a gourmet meal at a riverside restaurant. For those of you feeling a bit more energetic, join a bike tour & see the leafy lanes & valleys. Hot air ballooning & micro-lighting flights can be organised locally for the more adventurous amongst you. There is a 'Tree Adventure Park' near by, which is a great place to go with a group of kids & adults alike. There are also the prehistoric cave paintings, including Lascaux & Font de Gaume at les Eyzies for you to visit. Sarlat itself offers many free attractions, especially during the summer, including open air street theatre, acrobats, musicians, art exhibitions & concerts. The fabulous towns & villages of Beynac, Domme & Rocamadour are also not to be missed, as are the delights of the Dordogne Valley & it's Chateaux.

Sarlat is good for a family holiday and this house is
a great base from which to explore the area. Sarlat
is very busy and I recommend you stay IN the town
rather than just outside - as you can never park, at
least in July and August. The house is furnished to
a very high standard, just about everything else you
can imagine you might need was provided. The
decor is faultless, the bedlinen fresh and all white,
tonnes of towels for both the pool and the
bathrooms. The pool is small but attractively
landscaped with lots of comfy loungers all around.
As the owners recommended some local
restaurants we ate extremely well and all within a
short stroll of the house. There is a lively market in
Sarlat, lots of buskers and buzz to keep the kids
happy til late at night, good restaurants. Not far
away, by car, there is the river to swim in and good
cycle paths and we also found a lake with a 'beach'
and floating diving boards. A happy stay, thank
you.
Owner's Response: I am thrilled that this family enjoyed our lovely home and have taken the time to write this review. I am so glad that they took full advantage of being able to stroll into town and try some of the many restaurants in Sarlat's centre, there is even a Michelin starred restaurant a 5 minute walk away from this house! I am glad that they appreciated the benefits of being in town, as if you have to drive into Sarlat trying to park you car is an absolute nightmare, especially during July and August. Even during the rest of the year trying to find a parking space on market days is very difficult. The street performers are excellent fun for all ages and we frequently walk into town ourselves to watch the acts whilst sitting in one of the many street cafes in the beautiful main square in Sarlat.

Great house and fabulous town

Thanks Xanthe and Hamish for a fantastic couple of weeks in your house. We have children ages 2 and 3 and the house was perfect for them with a lovely pool and the centre of town within easy walking distance.

The town is beautiful with excellent facilities and other interesting towns nearby.

We'll be back again!

One week in Sarlat

Good property, comfortably furnished and very conveniently located close to the Medieval town and also close to the main roads to get onto the road (very handy in Sarlat during the summer traffic jams in and around the town).
House is practical and ideal for a family.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking the time to write a review, it is greatly appreciated by us and helps future guests get a better idea of the house, which is comfortable as you say. Apart from being able to walk to the restaurants and food market, the nearest boulangerie with freshly baked croissants, is only 5 minutes walk away, so this really is a conveniently located house which makes for a very relaxing holiday.

Sarlat is very easy to access by road as it is only 30 minutes from the A20 motorway which heads south from Paris. The house is easy to find in Sarlat and once there all you need to do is park your car and leave it there for the whole week, as it is only a short 5 minute stroll into town with no hills to climb.

Sarlat is very popular between the 3rd week of July and the middle of August, when the French people take their holidays. People trying to get into town or passing through it (New Sarlat bypass opening during 2010) do cause traffic jams during those 3 weeks. So, it really is advantageous to stay in town, in a tranquil residential area and walk into town for the free shows and entertainment held in the main square and pedestrian centre of town.
