It has an abundance of traditional tapas bars and restaurants, an International yearly Jazz Festival, and other cultural interests.

The secret garden cottage is well placed for visiting other white villages, and places of historical interest, as well as both the Atlantic and Mediterranean beaches. The real Spain in tranquil comfortable surroundings but perfectly situated for day trips to Seville, Jerez, Arcos, Ronda, Granada and along the coast you have Sotogrande, Marbella, Gibraltar, Tarifa, and a 35 minute day-trip by Hovercraft to Tangiers, Morrocco. Overall, the Secret Garden Cottage, is a magical retreat, surrounded by spectacular natural beauty. It is a place where one can come to peace, surrounded by unspoilt nature, but with the advantage of being within a short range of fascinating places to visit. Jimena, itself, is only a short walk/drive away, filled with a variety of charming and authentic little restaurants and tapa bars.
