Valencia is the third largest city in Spain, and among the liveliest. Located in the heart of the Mediterranean, with beaches abounding, it maintains a charming combination of the real Spain, steeped in culture and tradition - Valencia is the 'home' of paella - and sophisticated modernity - it is the backdrop for Calatrava's world-famous City of Arts & Sciences. Whilst rarely over-crowded, it is increasingly becoming a hot tourist destination. It has a fantastic climate, impressive sandy beaches, loads of sporting facilities (sailing, golf, diving, cycling, tennis etc. are all very popular here), an unbeatable nightlife, as well as a multitude of cultural amenities. Following the enormous success of the 32nd America's Cup, Valencia is confirmed as host to the first European F1 Grand Prix; first taking place in August 2008 it will be the only street circuit outside of Monaco, finally elevating Valencia to its deserved position as one Europe's most exciting and dynamic cities.
