Casa Zia Beppina was built towards the end of the 1950s in the San Concordio area of Lucca. San Concordio has recently become one of the most important areas of the city with the expansion outwards from the walled centre. Situated in a peaceful little residential road, the position of the apartment makes it arguably the perfect spot to enjoy a stay in the city. On the second floor, apartment MIMOSA (130 square meters in size) has two double bedded rooms and a third one with two single beds, bathroom with shower, kitchen fully equipped with dishwasher and washing machine, dining room and a large living room with TV and satellite; and a small balcony. Sleeps 4+2. The ADSL wireless internet connection is always on and completely free, besides an Internet point is available for free just a few steps away. The owners, Aldo and Cinzia, speak good English and will be more than happy to help you out with anything that will make your stay in Lucca more enjoyable.

The apartment is superbly placed for exploring Lucca, and the other historic cities and magnificent countryside of Tuscany. Lucca is now largely a pedestrianised zone, which makes exploring this lovely old city all the more enjoyable. With your vacation rental just a short walk outside the walls, you’ll never need to use your car to get into town. The railway station, with connections to Pisa, Florence and beyond, is a few minutes walk away and a bus stop is near the apartment. But with handy parking just outside the flat, and the motorway just 800m away, you can use your car to head out into the countryside, to the nearby beaches of the Versilian Riviera ... or even further afield. There is a supermarket and shopping mall within easy walking distance, as well as banks, shops, bars and pizzerias. Walk 50m and you’ll find a bar open until midnight.

  • The weekly price includes final cleaning (not included in the daily rate), bed, bath- and kitchen linen and towels, kitchen use, cold and warm water, electricity, gas, garden use, fast ADSL wireless internet connection always on, children up to 3 years stay free. Price excludes change of bed and bath linen during the stay, extra bath and bed linen and extra cleaning (both on request), heating during the winter on consumption (€ 0,50/cubic meter), airport shuttle service.
  • Weekly rate for 5/6 guests EUR 720 (per apartment per week final cleaning included).
    Daily rate for 5/6 guests EUR 125 (per apartment per day). Daily rates are charged of EUR 50 at check-out for final cleaning.
  • For a definite booking, a down payment of 30% of the total. The remaining amount should be paid at the moment of the arrival, during the stay or before check-out, please in cash. It's possible to cancel the reservation until 30 days before check-in, in this case we return the deposit. The deposit is not refundable from (and within) 30 days before check-in.

For tourists and residents it has become nearly impossible to reach the centre by car and therefore, this area is a very good alternative to enjoy a stay in Lucca. The city of Lucca, within the rich soil along the Serchio River, between the Apuan Alps and the Mount Pisano, is surrounded by the 16th century city walls that are entirely preserved and of 4.2 km length. Six city gates to access behind the walls, where the visitor meets centuries old palazzos, towers and bell towers, situated along narrow paved alleys that sometimes open towards one of those characteristic piazzas of which the most renowned is 'Piazza dell'Anfiteatro'. Everywhere shops, small cafés, wine bars, restaurants and taverns, inviting you to taste the typical cooking of the Lucca area, made of simple ingredients, connected with the season. The dishes are accompanied by the local wine full of taste. The centre invites to visit the numerous churches and museums.

Watching over Lucca from above, from one of the towers, one can enjoy an enchanting panorama over the red roofs, with lots of green and the summits of the Apuan Alps in the background. As Lucca is well connected through the rail network it is possible to visit other Tuscan towns without car. Pisa, Viareggio (and the Versilia coast), Montecatini and Pistoia can be quickly reached. Within approximately half an hour it is possible to reach Florence. Aldo and Cinzia can organize for you a shuttle service from/to the airport, you can participate at wine tastings at on of the wineries in the hills around Lucca, taste olive oil (Lucca's oil is renowned to be the best in the world), make cooking and Italian courses, discover the beautiful nature in the Garfagnana area or go riding.

An enjoyable day can be spent waling the 4 km circuit of the walls ... so deep are they that they are topped by parks and gardens, and are very popular with joggers, cyclists and sightseers. And when you descend to the town within, you'll find pedestrians and cyclists again take precedence over the motor car - this is a lovely town to stroll, enjoy and relax.

Wonderful extended stay

We enjoyed an extended stay in Casa Zia Beppina in 2008. The apartment was wonderful. It is roomy and well decorated, and with very large windows in all rooms. You have three lovely decks from which to enjoy the sun and views. We had everything we needed, including wireless internet.

The location is great. You are close to the walls, but in a great area with shopping and restaurants. We did everything on bikes or on foot, although there is a bus stop just around the corner if you need it.

Even more important, Aldo and Cinzia were warm, welcoming, and provided lots of information that was very helpful to us. They are great and accommodating hosts, and we feel lucky to have spent time with their family while in Lucca.

Excellent base for exploring Tuscany

We stayed here for a week in August. We were picked up from Pisa airport by the owner who took us to the apartment, showed us around and gave us some very useful tips for exploring Tuscany. His very friendly welcome helped to get our holiday off to the best possible start. The apartment itself is a great size, easily large enough to accomodate 4 or 5 adults comfortably and comes well equipped with washing machine and dishwasher (ideal when you have children with you!). In addition, the apartment has been very well maintained and was very clean throughout. The only downside of the apartment was that it could be slightly noisy outside early in the morning (building work at a neighbouring property and air conditioning from car delearship which is close by) - I wouldnt however view this as being a significant issue during our stay.

From the apartment, it is only a short 10 minute walk to Lucca's town walls and about the same to the train station. There is also a bus stop close by (less than 5 mins) from where you can catch a bus to Florence, Pisa(including the airport) and Viareggio.

I wouldnt hesitate to recommend a visit to Lucca and the use of this apartment.

Wir (2 Erwachsene/2 Kinder (11/13) und Hund) verbrachten eine Woche in der sehr gut ausgestatteten Wohnung von Aldo und Cinzia. Die Wohnung liegt in einer ruhigen Anliegerstraße und hat eine gute Anbindung an die Autobahn (800m). Ganz in der Nähe befinden sich diverse Einkaufsmöglichkeiten, darunter ein großer Supermarkt. Auch eine Pizzeria/Gelateria befindet sich um die Ecke. Das Zentrum/Stadtmauer ist nur 500 m entfernt. Die Wohnung hat einen separaten Eingang und die Aufteilung ist sehr großzügig und die Einrichtung geschmackvoll. Auf einem schönen Balkon kann man die Abendsonne genießen.
Wir waren von Lucca, das wir zu Fuß und per Rad erkundeten begeistert (2 Räder konnten mitgenutzt werden) Morgens mit dem Fahrrad eine Runde (4,2km) auf der Stadtmauer drehen und danach einen Latte Macchiatto. So kann der Tag beginnen.
Von Lucca aus machten wir Ausflüge nach Pisa (35 Min) ans Meer (Tirrenia) nach Volterra, San Gimignano (1,5 Std) und Siena (2 Std.)
Die Besitzer sind sehr hilfsbereit und großzügig und wir können die tolle Wohnung jedem empfehlen, der die Toskana erkunden möchte und gleichzeitig die Vorzüge einer Stadt zu schätzen weiß.
