Villa with private pool in the Lot
Combecave is a 150-year old stone tobacco barn sympathetically converted into comfortable and fully-equipped self-catering holiday accommodation. It is located in extensive grounds on a south-facing slope of wildflower meadows and woodland with superb views along the tranquil valley and ready access to the countryside beyond. The gite is linked by a large paved terrace to the swimming pool which has recently been fenced-in in accordance with new regulations. Gardens, mature shade trees and grassy areas surround the gite and lead to an area for playing boules and to the owners' residence nearby. Combecave is situated in a delightful position within 2.8 km of the bastide of Castelnau Montratier, in an area known as Quercy Blanc. This area of outstanding natural beauty is located in the Midi-Pyrenees region of SW France, occupying the southern borders of the Department of The Lot. The weather is generally very warm and agreeable from mid-March to mid-October.

Castelnau Montratier is an attractive small market town with all its small shops arranged around a fine arcade market square. It also boasts a good small supermarket, two cafes and a restaurant. The town is set in picturesque rolling countryside of limestone 'causes' and hidden valleys, dotted with bastide towns and villages dating back to the middle ages. The area is rich in history and full of fascinating places to visit. Above all, it is peaceful farming country producing delicious fruit and wine and many other gourmet products as well as sunflowers. The famous and historic town of Cahors sits on the Lot river 25 minutes away and rich wine-growing areas and attractive towns follow its banks in both directions. Upriver, St Cirq Lapopie is one of the beautiful villages of France. Other nearby attractions include spectacular Rocamadour, the prehistoric caves of Lascaux, marvellous bastide towns, famous chateaux, the Aveyron gorges, etc, all easily reached in a day visit.
