This was the sixth property my wife and I have rented in Corsica over 3 years. The villa is in a fine, raised up location with excellent views over the sea to Ajaccio, the Iles Sanguiaires and mountain ranges behind. It was well presented, clean and a very pleasant place to stay. The owner was very accommodating and the local contact and his wife were charming and very helpful. I suppose that we look for the wild, the remote, the tucked away, the very quiet on this island, so we personally found this villa just a little "suburban" in its setting on a small development with other villas around, and with the road running below the villa between it and the sea. The road is not a great problem, and is very quiet at night, and can be drowned out by the roaring sea on a wild day, but we live on a tiny lane in England so try to avoid any traffic noise. I stress that for most people the road would not be a problem.
Highlight of the week for us was the all day Nave Va boat trip from Porticcio (10 miles away) to Bonifacio, to arrive at this masterpiece by boat is the only way! Other delights were the coast road to Porto Pollo, Cupabia beach, the standing stones at Cauria and Palaggiu, Campomoro village, the other Portigliolo beach, the mountain area around Coti-Chiavari, and the Taravo valley left bank north to Calzola and opposite bank back.
Ajaccio market was excellent for produce and local character, and the wholefood/organic supermarket "La Roulotte" (rue Martin Borgamano, a couple of miles from the town along the old N194 towards Bastia, turn right at the second roundabout after leaving the sea) is first class (opens Mon-Sat 0900-1900).
The local beach has a nice, undeveloped air about it, and a pleasant walk is out towards the Castagna tower. The tower is closed off but a small road leads down to a quiet, tiny, rocky beach.
We would recommend this property to anyone who wishes to stay in this area of Corsica.
