Christmas holiday in Rome
Review Submitted: January 16, 2008
Date of Stay: December 2007
Our family greatly enjoyed a vacation this past Christmas (2007) in Rome. Twelve of us stayed in two of Emanuela's apartments and found them to be very comfortable. Our limo drivers had considerable trouble finding the apartment, which I have to attribute to Rome's peculuarities in street naming. Once there it was difficult to see why it was hard to find. I would, however, recommend using the limo service Emanuela recommends to eliminate any problems. Although the apartments are not within the "main" tourist area, they are within walking distance of the Colosseum (a brisk 20 min. walk) and right on the 105 bus line (stop is in front of the apartment) which is only a short bus ride from the Stazione Termini. The 105 runs frequently and also late at night. From the Termini you can get anywhere in the city. We did lots of walking but made good use of the 105 to get us to our starting point each day. I highly recommend a bus/metro pass for the duration of your stay as it makes getting around so much easier. The Roma Pass which includes a 3 day bus/metro pass & 2 museum passes we found to be a very good deal. Emanuela was extremely accommodating and a pleasure to get to know. The apartments were clean, well maintained and nicely furnished. They are in a charming building with great views of a very old aquaduct. While too cold for us to use the porch, I am sure that would make the apartment even more enjoyable in the warmer weather. The apartments are in a very safe, quiet area. There is a supermarket (DICO) behind the building and a nice bakery across the street. I would heartily recommend staying in these apartments, particularly for a larger group (rates are very reasonable, comparatively).
