Rome holiday apartment: Rome

We were in Rome for a week the end of September and actually rented two apartments, E and F. We were two couples and two female friends. We could have easily all stayed in E, but my husband and I, in addition to E, opted for the privacy of the efficiency apartment F. E was plenty spacious (all six of us fit comfortably around the table in the kitchen and there was plenty of seating in the living room as well) enough that we all spent our waking hours there. We found both apartments to be clean and with all the amenities we would need for our weeklong stay including a supermarket within walking distance and just around the corner from the complex.

We found our hostess, Emanuela, to be perfectly gracious and most helpful -- much more than we could have hoped. She answered all our questions no matter how much we pestered her – even via email before we arrived. She lives in the building, so while there, we found our needs much more than adequately met. She also assisted with inexpensive transportation from the airport to the apartments and from the apartments to the port for our twelve-day cruise.

Salvatore, our driver, was also perfect and went out of his way to accommodate three separate arrivals at the airport. As we found him to be more than accommodating and way within our budget, we hired him for a Rome at Night excursion and a day trip out of the city to Orvieto. Upon our return from our cruise, he met us at the ship and provided one last day trip Tuscania before dropping us at our hotel for the night before flying home the next morning. He even went out of his way to find a shop for purchasing a replacement suitcase as the zipper on mine had completely exploded. If you require transportation, please ask Emanuela that Salvatore and no other.

In hindsight, we have come to the conclusion that our most memorable vacation would not have been half as wonderful without these two: Emanuela and Salvatore.
