Built on Gothic foundations from the 13th century, the house was constructed during the reign of the Holy Roman Emperor, Charles IV (1316 to 1378). In 1541, fire destroyed the entire quarter of Mala Strana. In the kitchen, remains of the charred walls can be seen in a section that has been left unrestored. Thereafter, the house was rebuilt in the style of the Renaissance. Next to the Castle, the house was occupied by dignitaries of the kingdom. Notably, the Keeper of the Seals for Rudolf II (1652 to 1612). At the end of the Thirty Years War, 1648, Austrian aristocracy replaced the Czechs. By the 19th century, the area had lost it's significance.
