This property certainly matched it's description on the website and our party of 6 adults (3 couples) fely very comfortable during our stay. We would certainly recommend it to our friends. It was very clean and serviceable when we arrived, and well kitted out for cooking, eating and relaxing. The owner (Margaret) lives in an adjoining property, and met us soon after we arrived to ensure that the property was OK for us and to tell us about local shops, places to visit etc.
She was very friendly and very helpful throughout our stay, and instantly resolved the few issues we had. The property is situated part way down a steepish hill, which gives it the good views, but it wasn't a problem for the 60 year olds in our party to take the few minutes walk up the hill to reach the local shops. There was a full range of shops at the top of the road including supermarket, grocer, butcher, fishmonger, patisserie, pharmacy, etc and at least 2 pubs. The restaurants we tried were outside Mellieha, but all gave us good value. Try the Radisson restaurant at Golden Bay as you watch the sun set, the restaurant near the church at Mgarr that specialises in rabbit dishes, or the water side restaurants at Marsaxlokk for fish dishes. Mellieha Bay is very good for swimming, but you'll really need a car or local bus to get there. We had a hire car throughout, but its possible to get to most of the island by bus. Check the views from the Red Tower on the far side of Mellieha Bay, and take the 30 minute walk along the road past the tower to the other coast so you can claim to have walked across Malta.
