A gem of a find - a real home from home

Hmm, I have a dilemma - this place is SO gorgeous that if I harp on about the fab time we had, it'll get so booked we won't be able to get back there!
But fairs fair, credit where credit is due. Just don't know where to start. The location is stunning, in sight of neighbouring properties but remote enough to not worry about disturbing anyone, being disturbed or overlooked. The house is charming, beautifully clean and well fitted kitchens & bathrooms. An open fire with wood a plenty, extensive grounds including a help yourself orchard ( and we did!), and the all important heated pool. Quality outdoor furniture with large parasol, comfy sofas inside, comfy beds and great selection of books and CD's and DVD's. If you want to explore the options are endless and the folder gives you tons of local and farther afield information to plan your time. Highly recommend climbing atop Mont St Cyr for the breathtaking views, and you won't be disappointed by any of the nearby towns which are charming, esp on market days.
We had long drawn out meals round the massive kitchen table - like The Waltons (with wine) and thoroughly enjoyed shopping in local patisseries boucheries and boulangeries, also venturing to Carrefour and larger stores in Macon.
We saw tons of wildlife and birds, lots of stunning walking routes nearby, the odd tractor passed along the lane but only a handful of cars. It was bliss. We completely switched off from the doom and gloom of the TV/Radio and news, and were soon absorbed in country life, relaxed and rested.
As well as coming back en famille, we would come with a group of friends, I think we'd have a blast. This place has something for everyone - whether you want an active break, a complete chill out, or anything in between.
We ate at the restaurant atop Montmelard - en route to ST Cyr - I think is is called Hotel ST Cyr or Restaurant ST cyr but the owner is a charming lady with excellent English and we were well looked after and very well fed. Another great meal was outside Dompierre Les Ormes on the way back from Macon - can't recall the name but it's on the huge lake and the home cooked Bourgignon was the best ever. Another little gem is in D les Ormes itself, in the hotel, but to be fair we didn't have bad food anywhere - unlike our Paris experiences!! We are now rural France converts! The local people undid damage inflicted previously by Parisians!
In a nutshell - we loved every minute and hated to leave.
Owner's Response: Humbled once again by such a thoughtful review. We aim to make your stay an experience of the region beyond the boundary wall of our farmhouse. The pool may have felt 'heated' but is in fact unheated. The restaurant by the lake is at Trivy and is called L'Auberg du lac. JB
