Or, if activity & excitement is what your holiday is about, spend a day surfing on Stradbroke Island, take a deep sea fishing charter, sail the Bay & spot dugongs, dolphins, turtles - then return to light up the BBQ & sit back on the large veranda to experience the best vantage point for star gazing. This 3 bedroom traditional Queenslander with polished wood floors (refurbished in 2007) provides a real taste of Aussie living. Surrounded by water yet within walking distance of the film site of the upcoming Narnia 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' film (release date Dec 2010), fine eateries serving the freshest sea food & we're only a 30 minute trip to the centre of Brisbane, a 90 min drive to Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, & 40 min's to the entertainment hub of the Gold Coast

Cleveland is a well-established eastern seaside suburb of Brisbane, approximately 30 minutes drive from the city centre, that enjoys a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ideally located to explore the world's second largest sand island Stradbroke Island (whale watching, surfing, beaches galore) & Moreton Island National Park (hand feed dolphins). Fast motorway access to the Sunshine Coast, Steve Irwin's Australia Zoo, Glasshouse Mountains, Gold Coast (Surfers Paradise, theme parks including Wet n Wild, Sea World, Movie World, Dream World, Outback Spectacular). Arriving at Brisbane International/Domestic airport, it's easy to hire a car and drive to our waterfront home in 30 minutes. Located on Moreton Bay, the home is located within walking distance of fine sea food restaurants & a playground, & it's 5 minutes drive to the shops, supermarket, post office, banks, cafes and the harbourside. Climate is subtropical with average max summer temperature of 29 degree C & winter 21 degrees C.

Notes: There are 2 lounges - a front sun lounge perfect to sit and take morning coffee whilst gazing over the Bay to Stradbroke Island & the passing sail boats. The second lounge is a comfortable, well equipped area to sit & watch tv or play a board game, read a book. In the back sun room is the 6 seater dining area, next to the separate, modern well equipped kitchen. Enjoy a meal while you take in the glorious views over the water. Outside is a large veranda - perfect for evening drinks! As this is a traditional Queenslander, & therefore raised off the ground, the house is accessed via 4 stairs which may not suit elderly or infirm clients. However, once into the house all rooms are on one level. Please also note that children are welcome but this house is located right on the waterfront - the back garden ends at the sea! There is no barrier between the garden and the water - this home may therefore not suit families with young toddlers or children who are not water safety wise.

Local Attractions & Things to Do: The list of things to do is endless but here are a few suggestions to get you started: Stradbroke Island is only a 30 min ferry journey away with the port just a short 5min drive away from the house. Straddie is a water lovers playground with fantastic sandy beaches, surfing and nature walks. In the whale migration season watch the awesome display from the humpback whales as they pass by on their journey to their winter breeding grounds. Alternatively, visit Moreton Island and have a go at diving on the shipwrecks or feeding the dolphins by hand. 2 mins walk from the house is the film location of the 3rd Narnia film 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader'. The Oscar winning Prosthetics team stayed at BayView whilst filming took place in Sept '09. Film is due to be released Dec 2010. Have a meal at the local Lighthouse restaurant on the Point. Visit the art galleries, historic Ormiston House. Go Koala spotting. Take a boat trip out onto the Bay and enjoy a day of fishing or adventure sail

Gateway to Adventure Further Afield: We have plenty to do right on the doorstep so there's no need to travel any farther but, if you do want to experience a bit more of what Australia has on offer, then this is the perfect place to base yourself. We're only 30 minutes from Brisbane International/Domestic Airport - so why not use this home as your base for your exploration of other parts of Australia? Frequent, cheap flights to Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns can be booked. It's only a 2 hour flight to Melbourne and only 1 hour to Sydney!! New Zealand is only 3 hours away (closer than Perth, which is a 5 hour flight).

Who we are: We are a British family who emigrated from the UK a few years ago and are enjoying the sunny climes of Brisbane. This is our holiday home that is fully equipped for your relaxing holiday stay. We have another residence nearby and so are on hand should you have any queries about anything. The house was recently refurbished (November 2007) and we have equipped it with all the essential appliances to make your stay a pleasant one. You never know, once you've tasted Aussie life you too might be tempted to make a more permanent stay just like we did!!

Narnia Crew enjoy residing in this house...

As the accommodation coordinator on the Narnia film and having seen this house I chose to put my key Oscar winning crew in this property. We filmed in the area for 3 weeks and the crew in this home very extremely happy. They house is in the most amazing location and surrounded by water and has everything you could need. I highly recommend this property for a wonderful stay.
Owner's Response: We were delighted to have the Narnia Oscar winning prosthetics crew stay at Bay View. It is a great location and with the filming of the third Narnia film 'Voyage of the Dawn Treader' taking place 200 metres from the house it was great fun watching the movie unfold. The boat built for the filming looked amazing perched at the end of Cleveland Point. Although the boat and the actors have now gone we are sure future visitors will enjoy seeing where Narnia was filmed and will enjoy staying at our uniquely positioned house. The film is due for release in December 2010.

Our time spent at Cleveland, Brisbane was amazing we needed more time, stradbroke island is a must along with surfers paradise and Australia Zoo, house is wonderful perfect location,clean and beautiful waterfront views total relaxation. Cant wait to return!!

Perfect Vacation

Myself and two others came for a conference in Brisbane and stayed here -- it was amazing. Very clean with many amenities. There is even a perfect backyard and grill for a BBQ (or maybe it's called a barbie).

A week at Bay View

The location of this property is as good as they say! It is ideal for a relaxing break, though you may find the back garden a bit small if you have children who like a bit of space to run round. The garden is definitely not suitable for very young children, due to the drop down to the water, but this is made clear in the details.
The standard of the accommodation is excellent. The decor is modern and attractive. The living space is sort of open plan and there is a separate seating area at the front of the house if you want somewhere quiet to relax. The wooden floors can be noisy, especially at night. The property is very well equipped and well maintained.
The owners are very helpful and efficient. They reply quickly to emails and the booking and payments are straightforward.
There are plenty of shops, restaurants, banks and other facilities in Cleveland and beyond. There is a fish and chip shop/restaurant a few minutes walk away and another restaurant nearby, but a car is essential for everything else.
There is a nice atmosphere and reasonable food at the Grand View Hotel.
We took the train into Brisbane (you need to use the car to get to the station) and it took an hour to get there. It was well worth a visit. The street beach is amazing! A lovely place for a swim right in the heart of the city. There are beautiful parks and the river taxis allow easy to access to all parts.
We visited The Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary by car. It was a good way to get up close to the wildlife. Mount Coo-tha offers superb views of the city on a clear day (also at night) and some lovely walks in the forest.
We visited Margate/Redcliffe as we have family there. The beaches there are very pleasant and the facilities good. Cleveland doesn't have a beach, but we found some small manmade beaches at Raby Bay, and a reasonable beach at Wellington Point, is not too far away. We didn't have time to visit the islands in Moreton Bay. There is so much more to see and we hope to return to the area again.
We would certainly recommend Bay View to friends and family.
