Le Bouveret (Lake Geneva) holiday apartment: Marina Port Valais

We stayed in this beautiful apartment in Le Bouveret, Switzerland in early July 2008.

I had lived in Switzerland for a year almost a decade ago, so I was looking forward to taking a trip back down memory lane with my parents , my husband and my 18 month old toddler.

The apartment is located in a modern marina within a village called Le Bouveret which is situated close to the French Border and on the shores of Lake Geneva. The village of Le Bouveret itself has a beautiful mini train park which is very enjoyable. It also has a waterpark & beach area. There is lots to do for all ages in the area from leisurely biking to watersports to walking to wining and dining amongst other activties.

We enjoyed visiting Montreux, Lausanne, Geneva, Gruyere and Gstaad which atre all within easy driving distance.

Further afield, we enjoyed our trips to the very beautiful Annency, Chamonix & Aoste in Italy. Driving through the great mountain tunnels such as Mont Blanc was also a wonderful experience.

The apartment itself appears to be newly built and has a very interesting mezzanine which ensured maximum privacy for both couples. The bright dining/living area had a patio overlooking the marina. The ducks there proved a novelty for our toddler. The downstairs bedroom is very spacious and there is also another room downstairs with a sofa bed so the apartment could cater well for a larger family than ours. There is also great storage space.

The decor of the apartment is quite modern with lots of interior design features. There is great use of colour and lots of lounge areas. The apartment is also well equipped with english dvds, books , boardgames etc. Whilst the kitchen is small, it has everything that one would need.

I know that the owner had advised us that maybe the apartment would be unsuitable for our toddler. We did succeed in blocking all of the exits as appropriate but maybe the availability of stairgates would be a huge plus.

However, I would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment in Switzerland. It proved to be a most memorable trip with plenty of action. It was also fantsatic value for money. The photos of the apartment probably don't do it justice. It really is a real find and I am looking forward to my next visit back to Switzerland & Le Bouveret.
