Delightful apartment in Uzes historic centre with terrace and views

It is said that famous French painters loved the south of France for the quality of the light. Nowhere is this more apparent than in this sunny second-floor apartment in the historic centre of the bustling medieval market town of Uzes. Situated in a lovely 19th century building, the self-catering apartment provides a tranquil contrast and an ideal base for a holiday in the Gard. You will enjoy eating on the terrace which has glorious views over the terracotta roofs of the town to the Gorges du Gardon in the south. The apartment, which is also our second home, is tastefully furnished to a high standard providing every comfort. The kitchen is fully equipped with quality cookware, china and cutlery, and opens onto elegant dining in the salon. Air conditioning keeps you cool while you watch satellite TV, listen to music or play games and comfortable beds with good linen ensure a good night’s sleep.

Uzes, the first duchy of France, is a medieval honey-coloured town in the Gard, famous for its Saturday market (one of the largest in the south of France) and its many interesting shops and restaurants. The historic centre, the ‘sauvegard’, contains a myriad of fascinating narrow streets, pavement cafes, galleries, a medieval garden, the cathedral and the castle which is the residence of the current Duke. You can visit the castle and towers for a stunning view over the town and surrounding countryside which includes the Garrigues, the Cevennes and the Ardeche. The Uzes community is truly international, and yet retains the charm of a lively French market town.
