Tastefully converted in 2006 La Grange sleeps 4, and comprises large open plan lounge with wood burner adjoining a modern fitted kitchen / dining area , upstairs are 1 double & 1 twin bedded room + shower room/wc. Lavande a bedsit apartment suitable for a couple is attached to the owners property has it's own access a well equiped modern kitchen, combined bedroom / sitting area & en-suite shower room. Enclosed parking, large garden + gazebo & 8m x 4m pool is shared between the guests, there are ample loungers & separate barbecue / dining areas for each property. The location gives you the illusion of being in the heart of the country inviting you to relax and soak up the scenic views, yet you are only a 10min stroll into the pretty little town of Montignac with its numerous bars, restaurants, boulangeries and all the usual shops. Lascaux Caves are walking distance and easily accessible are many other sites of historic interest, and a variety of outdoor activities for all ages

La Grange sleeps 4 people, and comprises a large, open plan lounge with wood burner,comfy settee, 3 armchairs, TV, DVD, music centre, various light reads, dvds etc, adjoining a modern well equiped fitted kitchen, stairs lead from the lounge to 1 double and1 twin bedded room and a shower room + W/C, all rooms overlook the garden and pool with its country views. Double doors lead out onto the garden and decked pool area, outside dining and barbecue facilities are here and for those who prefer a shady area the gazebo also has a table and chairs. Laundry facilities are in the little annex next to the cottage. Special long term rental prices are available October to December for those who wish to try out a Rustic Dordogne Autumn, e-mail for details, stating length of stay required.

The Perigord Noir region is rich in prehistoric sites, the famous Lascaux Caves being just a 2km walk up the hillside, there is a wealth of history, architectural treasures and breath taking scenery in the Vezere Valley which is classified the foremost prehistoric site in the world by UNESCO. Canoeing, cycling, rambling, fishing & pony trekking as well as the many adventure playgrounds make this area a fine choice for family holidays or a Spring or Autumn break. Montignac holds the International Folk/ Dance Festival annually at the end of July and it's streets are alive with dance troops and bands from all over the world. Summertime Montignac and many of the local villages have evening markets where local producers sell their goods. Sarlat with its medieval buildings and ancient arcaded lanes & Perigueux the hospitable capital town of the Perigord are all approximately half an hours drive away. There is easy access to the airports of Bergerac, Limoges and Bordeaux via the A20 & N89.

Additional information about rental rates

  • Bed Linen, towels and final cleaning are included in the price, you are requested to provide your own pool towels, or we can provide pool towels for a small fee.

    Extra charge of 35 euros per week for heating if required.
  • A non refundable 25% deposit is required at the time of booking and the balance to be paid 8 weeks prior to your holiday date.

    A cheque of 250 euros / £250 is required as security deposit against breakages this will be refunded by post within 10 days of the end of your holiday providing the property is left tidy and without damage or that any breakages have been replaced, otherwise reductions will be made accordingly.
  • The gite is available from 4pm on arrival day and you are asked to vacate by 10am on day of departure to allow time for cleaning.

    Change over days are Saturdays high season but can be flexible medium to low season, shorter stays are also available at these times.

    *Special rates are available for those wishing to sample the rustic autumn Dordogne life, long term lets October to December, e-mail for details stating length of stay required..

Great stay in Montignac

The gite is perfectly situated just out of the village of Montignac - a 5 min walk ( we could have used the bikes that are provided). We had been traveling for three weeks and were very ready to put down roots for a few days, do some washing and cook our own food. It was amazing to have space after little hotel rooms - a very well equiped kitchen, a lovely big living area and privacy around the pool, surrounded by fields. Bliss. We shopped locally (the walnuts are divine in all forms) cooked on the bbq (frequently raiding the herb garden) and sampled our share of local wine. Each day we drove out to the many local attractions - there are maps and lots of information provided by our hosts.The highlight for us was a four hour canoe trip down the river that flows through the village.
The weather was perfect - 30+ Celsius- but had it not been we would have been happy with the collection of games and books provided.
Ruth and Ian were helpful, friendly and unobtrusive.They are passionate about their gite and want everyone to enjoy their time there. We sure did and would wish others the perfect stay we had in a very beautiful part of France.

We had a warm welcome from Ruth and Ian, who were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay.
The property was exactly as described and was very clean and comfortable. The kitchen was particularly well-equipped for a holiday rental. We felt at home there from the start.
We loved the garden and the pool and ate outside all the time using the little gazebo.
The location was perfect for us - out of town with lovely country views from the back garden, but only 15 minutes' walk into the small town of Motignac, where there were plenty of shops and facilities.
Montignac itself is well placed for visiting caves, chateaux and many pretty Dordogne villages.
We would definitely recommend the property to a friend and would like to return there some time.

Very clean and well managed property. Bright and airy location with good views all around. Inviting swimming pool that is large and clean. Plenty of space to relax, if you wish, and to barbecue. Ruth is very accommodating to your needs and helpful in suggesting places to visit.

Centrally located for sightseeing with most of the important sights within a 90 minute drive. The Lascaux Caves are must see and only a 5-minute drive. Also must see are Perigueux, Rocamadour and Figeac. The caves at Pech-Merle are even older and may require advance reservations - they only allow 700 visitors a day.

Walking distance to town for shopping, restaurants and Wednesday and Saturday Market Day and a 20-minute drive to Sarlat.
