Provence is full of picturesque villages, atop rocky hillsides which add their singular beauty to the overall charm of the region, Figanieres is just one of these villages, a mere five minutes stroll from the villa. Explore the beautiful Gorges du Verdon, the local vineyards, olive groves, fields of lavender and of course the white sandy beaches of the Mediterranean. Also for the enthusiastic skier, the slopes are within one to two hours drive from the villa.

The village is situated in the heart of the Var at an altitude of 200 metres. It is 35 minutes from the Mediterranean, is near the Gorge du Verdon and the Gorge de Pennafort. Figanieres is surrounded by the beautiful perched villages of Callas, Bargemon, Claviers, La Motte, Le Muy and Les Arcs. The economy of Figanieres depends on agriculture and tourism. There are many local wineries and olive groves which produce wonderful wine and delicious olive oil. During the summer months many festivals take place in the region. The capital of the Var is Draguignan. On market day (Saturday mornings) the peaceful streets are buzzing with people from the surrounding wine growing districts.

  • Prices may be subject to change at the owner's discretion.
    Prices for long-term rentals negotiable. Prices are per week and apply for up to eight persons in the summer months. Prices per week for five persons or more may be subject to change between October and April. A deposit of 25% is required upon confirmation of booking. 8 weeks prior to rental dates payment of balance to be organised directly with the owner.
    A 250 euro refundable cheque for breakages is also required. Deposit becomes non -refundable within 8 weeks of arrival in the event of cancellations.

The Provence Alpes Cote d'Azur / Var region: Provence is renowned for its temperate climate, low rainfall, clear light and days of bright sunshine. The coastal areas, particularly the Alpes Maritimes have a mild, dry sunny winter, but inland the climate in harsher and in the mountains there is a considerable amount of snow. The Markets in Provence seem more alive and fascinating than in any other region. There is everything on offer from the traditional Provencal crafts to the famous pottery and an enormous range of vegetables and food. The visitor who is seeking fashionable and elegant surroundings can choose between the animation of Cannes, Monte Carlo, St Tropez or the quieter more discreet life of Hyeres, Beaulieu, Menton, Cap Ferat or Cap Martin.

How to get there: Approximately an hour inland from anywhere on the Riviera. Approximately one hour from Nice Airport. Follow A8 motorway in the direction of Aix en Provence and exit at sortie 36 Le Muy. Once you exit the A8 it is approximately 35 minutes drive. One Hour 20 minutes from Marseille Airport. Follow A8 motorway in the direction of Nice and exit at sortie 36 Le Muy. Figanieres will be signposted en route. More detailed directions will be available.

Fantastic villa in Provence to rent

As the title in the advertisement suggests this was truly a fantastic villa in Provence. For anyone looking for a truly peaceful holiday in rural Southern France this lovely secluded villa is just the ticket. Located in the quiet village of Figaniers the villa is ideally situated some 15 mins drive from Draguinan, and with easy access to some spectacular hillside villages. I would not miss a trip to Tourtour around a forty minute drive away, it was stunning.
The villa was very well equiped with everything that a family could possibly need and I must say that the communication between the owners and myself could not have been better, every step of the booking and the holiday itself was made very easy. The owners even called to make sure that we had arrived safley and that everything was to our liking.
In summary, would I go back? yes please! tomorrow if possible.
