These lovingly-restored villas created in a 150 year old village house sit in a secluded garden with orange, lemon and olive trees, private patios and pergola-covered eating areas. The perfect Summer holiday rental, here you can enjoy all the romance of ' Real Greece' with up-to-date family friendly self-catering facilities. The rear bedrooms overlook the gardens and church, (beautifully-lit at night) whilst the view from the front bedrooms of village rooftops, the Ionian Sea and the island of Sapienza is equally romantic. The villas have bathrooms upstairs and toilets downstairs; Aleiki has a bath, Phoebe a shower. The comfortable living rooms with dvd, sofabeds, wooden floors, beamed ceilings and thick stone walls, perfect for escaping the midday heat, are easy to use as 3rd bedroom if needed. A newly renovated villa which is quiet and relaxing . The rear bedroom has a single bed and a small double, the front bedroom has a double bed. There is space for a cot as well. A new kitchen blends in with the 18'' thick stone walls and original features such as a mosaic marble sink outside - great for prepping salads in the sunshine ready for the barbque. A vine-draped pergola shades the dining patio and a high stone wall makes 'Phoebe' a private little haven. There's a gated parking area which doubles as a secure play area. The beach is so close it's great to go for several dips a day - take a stroll in the morning, past the bakery (the smell of fresh bread is irresistible); grab a pastry, and as your route is straight down the historic main street between the end of our little lane and the castle, you can also collect a coffee from Niko's and paper at the Newsagent opposite and have breakfast on the beach with the clear waters of the Ionian Sea lapping at your toes.

Bordered by a long sandy beach (with safe shallows), a C.13th Venetian castle to explore and great restaurants, cafes, and shops, everything you need for a perfect holiday is right here. A car is not a necessity.Take an evening stroll 300metres behind the cottage to the clifftops to see the sun set over the sea ( ther's also a little bar up there). Untouched by development, Methoni is friendly and traditional; you'll soon feel like a local. Try Andreas' taverna - 1 minute's walk from your door for some of the best local and innovative dishes in the Peloponnese. There are regular buses from the stop just around the corner for trips to Pylos or further afield and boat trips to the island of Sapienza. The peninsula is great for cycling and if you do wish to hire a car the sites and museums of ancient Olympia, Messini and Nestor's palace are a must, as well as stunning Voidokilia beach - one of the best in Europe. Easyjet to Athens has cheap seats if you book early. The journey is spectacular through the Taigetos Mountains - which divide the territories of the ancient kings Agamemnon (Mycenae), Menelaos (Sparta) and Nestor (Pylos). The new motorway, lined with Oleander and Cypress trees makes for an easy and pretty drive of about 2 and a half hrs to the foot of the mountains. If you decide to hire a car there are good deals with independent Greek companies at Athens airport. As you cross the Corinth Canal to the Peleponnese, a stop to admire this feat of c.19th engineering is a must. Agamemnon's palace at Ancient Myceae is well worth the short detour. .Don't hesitate to email us for further details. A wonderful two weeks.

The house was extremely comfortable and well designed. The air conditioning in the bedrooms excellent. Nigel and Fiona were kind and helpful and it was delightful to meet them. The garden is really beautiful, shade and sun in just the right places – the aubergines were almost ready for harvesting when we left and we sampled the abundant supply of grapes. We travelled to Olympia one day – the coast road was interesting for the two hours driving – the site has many trees providing shade – the archaeological remains and the athletic stadium were simply stunning – also at Ancient Messina where we ate at a small tavern overlooking the site in the mountains. There are many good taverns in Methoni, we would particularly recommend Kastro’s where the host Adam, made us very welcome. We took a boat trip to Sapienza – strongly recommended – the boatman took us walking in the forest we met wild goats and swam off a tiny white sand beach in the most perfect sea ! A wonderful two weeks.

A very nice week.
We love this house. We could live here. And the garden.
Methoni is a pleasant village and the castel is very beautiful. The life is sweet here.
One perfect walk in this very nice place : a nice old castle, a beautiful beach which is accessible by foot, some typical tavernas with authentic Greek food, a house which is so perfectly in agreement with our taste, a wonderful garden. We are now leaving for our second week in Tolo close to Napflio, a little bit cautious… are we going to appreciate our new house ( certainly not as much as this one ) ?
This is one of the best places where we have been for our holidays. We will certainly come back one day.

We spent one wonderful week in this warmful villa and fairy garden. It is a perfect place, tastefully furnished. We were two families in the two villas (Phoebe and Aleiki) and both houses are very nice.
Excellent organic olive oil home produced.
The owners are very kind and helpful people.
We had really a very good time.

Aleiki villa Methoni Greece

This is a lovely villa. Despite its location in the village - which means cashpoint, pharmacy, shops, tavernas etc are minutes away - its peaceful and private. We found it good value for money. The description was accurate - we were attracted by the photos and description of the garden and this did turn out to be a wonderful place to eat and relax. Although not luxurious - and we weren't expecting that - the villa has all the facilities we needed. Although the website suggests a car isn't necessary, we would recommend one as it means a range of lovely beaches are accessible - without driving huge distances (our 5 year old has a low tolerance for long journeys). We visited in the summer half term, no crowds but perfect seas. The owners were incredibly helpful - we emailed a number of queries during the booking process and received accurate helpful responses. They know the local area very well and their advice was spot on from the routes from the airport to the best beaches to avoiding mosquitoes. We would certainly recommend this property. We enjoyed the family friendly beaches, exploring the several old castles in the area, the links to Greek legend, the chance to slow down and appreciate simple things like the local wine, wonderful fresh food, the courtesy of local people - and the perfect beach (the owners will let you into the secret local route to this). One caution, although the villa would sleep up to 6, we suspect this would feel quite crowded - although there is the advantage of a second wc.

Our holiday in Methoni

we had an awesome holiday here, the house is so cute with wooden beams and old shutters and a gorgeous little garden. we used to get up every morning and walk through the village which is nice and old-fashioned with a few tourists but not many, and get to the beach in about five mins. the beaches are really long with hardly any people (can you tell we were desperate for peace and quiet!) and the sea is lovely! in the next town along there is also an amazing beach almost enclosed in a circular bay, which makes the sea really calm and peaceful - we went there loads. and we found a couple of yummy restaurants too, although we almost overdosed on greek salad, but it is hard to resist! would defo recommend the place, we're already thinking about next year....
