Secluded 18th Century cottage farmhouse with big pool & spectacular views

En Ramounas is a cosy, south facing traditional 18th century cottage farmhouse with soft coloured sandstone walls one metre thick in places, terracotta tiled floors downstairs, double parquet floors upstairs, timbered ceilings throughout and hunks of trees holding the cottage together. Romantic landscaped Mediterranean gardens surround the cottage with a large private terrace and lawn in front looking to the Pyrenees and lawned garden at the back with views to the Montagne Noire. Winding paths lead you down your little hill, past mini vineyard (183 pieds) and fig trees, through Beth Chatto inspired plantings to the swimming pool with its spacious, secluded sunbathing terrace and shady terracotta roof tiled cabin overlooking wheat fields stretching to the Pyrenees. We live in converted barns next door, separated by an old stone wall, so are always available to help if needed. Secluded, spacious and self-catering. A perfect getaway cottage to sight see from and relax in.

Within easy reach of abbeys, castles, grottoes, vineyards (Fitou, Corbières, Minervois, Cabardès ...), beach 1 hr/Barcelona 3hrs/Bilbao6hrs, there are masses of things to see and do. Typically French medieval towns and villages with cafés to linger in, family to Michelin starred restaurants, historical and country sightseeing, markets and shopping, white water rafting, painting, drawing, photography, cycling, walking and doing absolutely nothing but relax in the midday sun. The perfect way to get away to wide open spaces that never seem to change.

A variety of entertainments and festivals throughout year - Christmas, Fête des Violettes, Fête du Cassoulet, Foire du Gras, Antiquités, etc. Summer night markets throughout area. Good golf courses Carcassonne/Toulouse. Qualified tuition available for all levels, all ages in painting, drawing and photography as adjunct to your holiday. Sometimes just one or two sessions while partner or family does something else. Also possible to learn how to cook traditional Cassoulet in French with local Chef and for children to spend an afternoon learning to windsurf or sail on local lake.
