Location, location, location!

Our family - Mum and Dad and two grown-up children (24 and 23) have just enjoyed a fantastic week at the Villa Rama Rama, celebrating our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The location is breath-taking, and just as the description says, if not better.Accommodation was outstanding-- all the beds were very comfortable, lovely bedlinen, excellent a/cs, although the sheer size of the master bedroom makes it not as easy to cool as the lower rooms.Bathrooms had toiletries and plenty of towels. The corner baths looked very inviting, but the practical side of me resisted as the thought of all that water needed to fill them went against the "green" sensitivities!
The staff are as good as suggested- we had several delicious Balinese meals made, all the laundry done, we were driven wherever and whenever we wanted, and the villa was kept clean and well-maintained.
There is a folder with descriptive leaflets on local attractions, and a very helpful personal guide which we used a lot, and were not disappointed.Beware eating at the Four Seasons hotel though- a two course lunch for 4 - and we are talking beer and pizzas, not lobster and champagne- cost over £200, whereas Diu (the female half of the staff) was shopping for us and preparing dinner of fresh spicy prawns, curried chicken, noodles and vegetables, and rice, for about £17-£20. There were lots of other restaurants within a short driving distance e.g. seafood on the beach at sunset (fabulous!) and a very reasonable Italian- though the menu description and what actually arrived were not too similar! The red house wine was undrinkable, better to stick to the beer.
Excursions- the children went to a suggested beach and found a mere handful of other people on a beautiful stretch of clean sand; they hired surfboards and thoroughly enjoyed it. Dewa the driver took them and brought them back, all very relaxed. They also went white water-rafting and said it was excellent, especially seeing the Balinese countryside and the river. We had pre-booked an overnight trip to Java to see sunrise over the Borobodur Temple at Yogyakarta and this was absolutely magical-even the non-historians amongst us found it fascinating. We had an elephant ride there as well, yet it was very un-touristy despite sounding to the contrary.
I would certainly recommend this property.
Just a note for parents of youngsters- the pool is gorgeous, but there's no shallow end.
Owner's Response: I'm glad you had a fantastic stay Felicity and loved our home as much as we do. I'm missing the villa in Bali and it's only a month since I was there.
Re. the pool (and Children), we have a 1 year and a 3 years old so tend to put out a paddling pool, and use lots of inflable pool toys. I think its very very rare you'll find a private villa with an infant pool - saying that, thats probably why my 3 year old is always asking to go in the small pool (the Jazuzzi).
We hope to welcome you and your family back some time soon
