Work is underway restoring the house itself and will be open to the public soon. Nearby there is a passenger ferry across the Dart to the riverside village of Dittisham with its famous Ferry Boat Inn pub/restaurant. The ferry runs on demand all year and for the return journey a large bell summons the ferry - great fun for the children as is the crabbing galore off the small pier. 6 miles to the ancient town of Totnes with many interesting shops, tearooms and riverside restaurants. | Notes: | I am on on hand next door to welcome you. Although the large garden is shared with myself and two friendly dogs you have your own garden area wtih table, chairs, loungers, BBQ and swing seat. Peaceful and lovely views across the countryside. Please note there is washing machine available for your use in separate utility room at the other end of the property. There is an extensive information pack in the cottage as well as maps and information on all the local tourist attractions, recommendations for restaurants, outings etc. Just ask if you wish to book some babysitting in advance with local reliable babysitter Emily, who also offers dog walking or sitting if you would like a day to yourselves. Highly recommended meat and vegetable boxes available for Friday deliveries from nearby Riverford Organic Farm. Please ask me for further information about ordering. The Farm offer a variety of childrens activities/tours at the farm as well as shops and a very good restaurant. |

Beautiful little cottage
Minty, London
Review Submitted: June 19, 2008, Date of stay: April, 2008
We stayed in Barnacle cottage for a week over easter and had a wonderful time. The cottage is small but beautiful and really well set up, very comfortable beds and a pub within walking distance! We were welcomed by the owner with some home made scones and clotted cream which was a lovely start and we had arranged with her to have an organic food delivery from Riverford farm. There was lots of information about the area and the owner gave us recommendations too. There was plenty to do with the kids, mackeral fishing, crabbing, beaches, horse riding and beautiful walks. It's also dog friendly and lots of pubs were too. I definitely recommend the peoperty.
