French farmhouse with private pool in rural hamlet

Les Valettes is a large self catering farmhouse with a private pool situated in a quiet rural farming hamlet a short drive from the bustling market towns of Thiviers and Excideuil. The detached house is full of charm and character whilst offering every modern convenience. 5 double and twin bedrooms - 3 with double beds and 2 with twin beds (3 ensuite, one with ensuite children's bedroom, one with extra sleeping deck for two, and one with wheelchair access to its shower room and wc), one twin room with bunk beds with wc and bathroom off same landing. There are 5 bathrooms and 5 toilets. There is a comfortable lounge with wood burning stove and video TV and satellite system. Large kitchen with dishwasher, 2 fridges, dual fuel cooker and all mod cons. Utility room with washing machine and freezer. Large dining room in barn conversion with original timbers. BBQ and large dining table under pergola. Games areas, shaded parking, 10 x 5 metre pool with Roman steps and large deck.

Perigueux, the capital city of the Dordogne is only 40 minutes drive and is a wonderful mixture of modern city and narrow pedestrian streets in the old town full of pavement cafes, restaurants and shops. There is a public golf course to the West of the city. The small market town of Excideuil is 15 minutes drive away. It has a charming chateau and a lively market every Thursday. Thiviers is nearby and has a market every Saturday. A visit to Brantome is a must. Just 30 minutes away on the River Dronne it is a medieval and renaissance town with a large abbey founded by Charlemagne and a wealth of cafes, restaurants and shops. It also has a large canoeing centre and boat trips on the Dronne. We also recommend the prehistoric caves at Grotte de Villars near Brantome, Hautefort with its spectacular chateau, large gardens and medical sciences museum, and the chateau at Puyguilhem. The wider area offers opportunities for tennis, walking, cycling, fishing, and horse riding.
